Q: Does the cam roll over and the 2nd screw draws out the cork so that it is a single twisting morion? My dad has one of these, it must be 50 years old.

I have had one for 53 years and also gave my son and daughter one. the cam rolls over and you keep twisting to draw the cork out that is now attached to the end of the screw .he advantage of this cork screw is that the cork is never broken or pushed down into the bottle.

The part that screws into the cork screws into the external threaded rod with the cam lock on it. BTW we have an older model that is far superior in operation to this one. We liked the older version so much we gave this one to our daughters as a gift. Should have gone with the more expensive one. Q: What is diameter of the part on bottom that goes on wine bottle?

It is 1 and 1/4 inch diameter. The opening is graduated so it fits on slightly different bottle necks. The final opening allows a cork to pass through. I've had no trouble fitting this on a range of wine bottles.
