VolkmanSeed Avian Science Super Hookbill (8 lb)

This seed is high quality food for your parrot. I have fed this for 28 years now. I just throw it in the freezer when I get it and then keep it in the fridge for use. That way I get rid of any flour moth eggs. My birds will only eat this seed. Just remember to feed fresh veggies and fruit along with the seed.

I usually have to go to Pet Paradise which is over 5 miles, lots of traffic. I honestly didn’t think about ordering from Amazon. I will most definitely order from seller again. Fast service and reasonable prices.

I like this food because it has the sunflower seed that cuddles likes, banana chips, dried apricots. Cuddles like the peppers that are in this seed.

I mix it with another type but it’s the main type of food my cockatoo eats

The online looks of the package are deceiving. It seemed to be alright for lovebirds and conures. The product itself looked great upon arrival; however, for smaller parrots it didn't work. So, bearing that in mind, I think it is a good product for larger birds.

For anybody looking for healthy cockatoo seed/Hookbill I would recommend this product. It is a very clean seed product with very little dust.

I have been buying the 20 lb bag of Volkmann Super HookBill for several years. I buy it initially for my African Grey, who seemed to like it better than the Volkmann AG food. He is a messy eater, but over the years, he still looks pretty good at age 39. I give him one portion to eat, what I think he eats, for the day.The next day I dump his food into a smaller bowl to give to the 4 parakeets. They finish off all of the small seed. This is a daily extra to supplement the Volkmann Parakeet Seed I give to them.Meanwhile... For my own enjoyment, I pull out all of the Dried Papaya and eat that for myself... Yumm!!Meanwhile... For my own enjoyment, I pull out all of the Dried Hot Cherry Peppers. When I get five of them, I throw them into a small pot of boiling water with minced garlic and chopped onion. After about a half-hour I turn it off and dump my new sauce onto fish or chicken or beef, add some chili sauce for extra heat - Yumm!!!8/18/21 - IMPORTANT UPDATE!!! I recently learned that the ingredients include FD&C Yellow Dye #6. These dyes are carcinogenic. I have asked my supplier and he says it is in the dried fruit. I am worried now because another product -- Volkman Parakeet -- includes Red Dye #40, Yellow Dye #5, Yellow Dye #6 and Blue Dye #1. I really hate it when people hedge and say it's been approved by the FDA... does that mean having a little carcinogen is safe? Wouldn't it be better not to have any carcinogren?
