Great non-electric ice stabber
My mother-in-law's ancient ice pick finally fell apart and no amount of glue and duct tape could put it back together. Even though she has an ice maker and frost-free freezer and no longer has to chip blocks of ice, she missed poking holes in her ice cubes or maybe she just missed the thrill of stabbing something -- who really knows? We bought this for her because it was similar to her old one. It's well made and should last as long as her old one did. When we gave it to her, the gleam in her eye reminded me of Norman Bates in "Psycho," but so far she's only used it on her box of ice cubes.

Simple, inexpensive, sturdy ice pick
What more can you say about an ice-pick? It's low cost. It is sturdy, It is compact. It is durable. It works well as you chop at ice that needs picking. Its a good deal if you are looking for a pick.

Works, but faulty design element
Kind of hard to use. I think it’s the size. Stabbed my hand once. The product is sturdy, so the manufacturing is good. Wouldn’t recommend ice pick of this size in general.

It's So Pointy!
One might imagine that it probably doesn't take a lengthy shopping trip to locate the perfect ice pick, but I did just that and I'm happy to say that at long last, I found one. After poring over a number of really excellent reviews here at Amazon for various other ice picks, some ice pick tines were reported to have bent, or the blade and the handle separated from one another in pretty short order; some were said last for a week or two, or a month or two. That is why I have now taken some time to use my new ice pick repeatedly before writing this review. The reason I bought it in the first place was that I have a freezer that self-defrosts every single night, and in so doing, melts my ice cubes so that by morning, the resulting ice water has re-frozen on the bottom of the ice receptacle, forming a small frozen pond. The 48353 ice pick makes short work of this, and I have lots more usable ice without a lot of headache and it's clearly built to last. I'm glad I bought this particular ice pick and I hope that, when in need, you will "pick" one up for yourself!

Great Ice pick that holds up great
Great Ice pick that holds up great. I keep it on my boat exposed to the elements and it has held up great with no rust. I use block ice and it breaks it up very fast. Seems to be a quality product and spike works great.

Great Pick for Ice and Belts!
I love buying bags of sonic ice...I just might be addicted. I love the texture. But no matter what, especially with my heat in south Texas, a little bit gets melted in the transporting. Which means after I use a small amount, it needs to be broken up as I continue to get more. I've used many hard objects to break the ice up, including just slamming the bag the ground. It's such a chore and frequently doesn't break up like I like it. Then one day I remembered that growing up we had an ice pick. Crazy I hadn't thought about it before. So now I happily have my New Star carbon ice pick. It doesn't leave trace pieces of metal in your ice, which I've read some do. It simple break my ice and of course is great when you need to punch an extra hole your leather belt!
