I suffer from Hypothyroidism which was poorly treated for over 6&1/2yrs. It made the skin on my face very thin & extremely sensitive. Plus the amount of sebum that my system produces in my pores on my face is endless. I'd be very rich if you could sell it! Well I have to clean out my pores quite a bit which before I found another product on Amazon would leave red marks on my face, even though I was using a tool for that purpose, that took forever to heal & go away because my immune system is extremely weak also from the poor treatment of my thyroid plus I just found out I have Lyme Disease too. Let's just say it takes a long time for me to heal. Well I normally use a Clarisonic facial cleansing brush with their deep pore cleanser but after I had the red marks or sometimes even cuts the brush would irritate them & I would bleed sometimes. I found this on Amazon & quite a few brands but I decided to go with this 1 which comes with a suction cup hook to hang it on. I love it! I use it with the deep pore cleanser when needed & sometimes without any, as it says you don't need to use cleanser. They send you an email with more directions & tips. Nothing can really stop the excess sebum right now but it's so gentle & I really feel like it does a great job cleansing your skin. I bought 1 & then saw they were on sale so I bought 3 more. I still use my Clarisonic but these too about 50% of the time. I use these also because I have such severe fatigue that I can't always take the time to use my Clarisonic. I know that sounds ridiculous to many but if you have CFS you know exactly what I mean, some days I can barely move because of the fatigue & weakness. I also love that you can put in a potted plant after you are done using it or throw it in compost pile if you have 1. My 1st 1 has lasted almost 3 months but I made the mistake of squeezing out the water wrong so I know my new ones will last longer. The 1st one is starting to fall apart a little but I still use it because it isn't totally dead yet. Highly recommend especially because it's a natural product. There are too many products on the market today that do more damage than good with all the chemicals we put in & on our bodies! If we keep eating GMOs & products with names we can't even pronounce this country is going to have more ill people then healthy ones! I know I wrote this on Amazon.com but check out Amazon Smile not quite sure of the name because I just started buying through that site. Certain products, like this one, when you buy through that site which is exactly the same as Amazon money is donated to a charity of your choice. It's a win win situation same great prices & products but you get to pick from many different charitable organizations & they get a % of what you buy!

I've pondered the fact that I may not be the most qualified to leave product reviews on skincare - frankly I have really good skin ("I got it, I got it, I got it from my Mama" - you can hate me) and don't have skin issues that I can write about products magically fixing. That said, I'm a skincare junkie like every other women in my family and the quick links to amazon from the beauty blogs I frequent are the cause of the hostile invasion of what my husband terms his "Sudetentland" of the remaining bathroom storage space. No matter what wonderful and expensive moisturizer I'm currently loving, I believe that the holy grail of facial cream is still out there somewhere. My Review: To use the sponge, it needs to be in warm water for a minute or two prior to use - I usually cup it in my hands (impatiently) but frankly the re-hydration time is an inconvenience. I would use mine approximately 15% more if this wasn't the case. The sponge cleanses very efficiently and with or without cleaners leaves my skin feeling fantastically clean - similar to a brush system (seriously). The manufacturer recommends you replace the sponge every 3 months or so. I have yet to replace mine but have done the home "autoclave" in my microwave several times. Likely 6 months would be doable provided the microwave method was used to periodically. My sponge hangs on the suction hook it comes with (very handy) by my sink but most often I take it with me when traveling rather than packing my cleaning brush. I don't have any real imperical data as to skin improvement to report but this sponge really does make my skin feel very clean and soft. It's very gentle on the skin. I would highly recommend this product as a travel substitute to a cleansing brush and/or just a generally use product for your skin care routine.

I have used charcoal Konjac sponges for a few years from a lot of different brands and find them really effective in general. I personally use them about 4-5 times a week in the winter and daily in the summer, and find them to be a very gentle means of manually exfoliating the skin. My skin is somewhat sensitive and my face has never been irritated or damaged by using one (I tend to gently touch the sponge to my face and move it in circles all over my face for a minute or two). It has a small string so you can hang it up to dry, which is a nice feature that not all sponges have, and it also included a small plastic suction-cup hook if you don't already have something to hang it on in your bathroom, which I haven't seen from any other brand. The suction cup would stick to a mirror, granite or shower wall material but does not stick well to walls because of the slight texture they have. For this brand in particular, I was drawn to it because of the seemingly all-recyclable packaging and was disappointed to find that the sponge itself was wrapped in a layer of thin plastic. This is probably for protection, but from the images this seems like a 100% waste-free option. Further, most other sponges I've purchased that came in a plastic casing also had a small amount of moisture or serum inside to keep the sponge from totally drying out, and this one did not. Finally, I've found that this sponge can take a bit longer than others I've had to re-moisturize between uses — they get hard and scratchy when they dry out and you need to run water over them before using them, and this one can still feel hard in the very center (not the part touching your face) unless you soak it in a bowl of water for a few minutes. After using, I rinse out the sponge in very hot water (as hot as my sink can make) and then press them between my two hands (not squeeze) to clean and get out excess moisture, and the usually last me at least 3 or 4 months before I feel like they've gotten raggedy. Bonus: they can be composted! Overall, I am a huge fan of konjac sponges and this one does the job, but I've had ones that I like better and are truly zero waste, so if you're concerned about those things you might want to try a different option.
