Excellent book. I learned about Assertive Training years ago ...
Excellent book. I learned about Assertive Training years ago while in the military, one of the most aggressive environments there is. I studied the book written by the father of AT at that time. I have revisited the subject off and on over the years and recently wanted a simplified, easy to understand, step-by-step book on the subject that would be quick to read. This book filled the bill. It was pretty "amazing", and I don't even like using that word because when I it I think somebody is going to try to prove to me that they can walk on water. But this book was concise, practical and to the point. To top it off the book arrived in the time guaranteed so I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase and will keep the book for years to come. It is what I call a "bible" in it's class of books. A keeper!

One of the best books I have read.
As a part of our academic curriculum, we have never been taught about the communication skills. When I was browsing, I came to know about being assertive is the solution for several day to day problems. There are several books on the topic and I was lucky to pick this particular book from a local library.Due to the size, [around 100 pages] I finished reading the book in a week and I was impressed. So decided to buy one.I would like to state that it is one of the best books I have read.I highly recommend this book to anyone (be it family member, friends or colleagues) who would like to communicate effectively to anyone. The book has also kindled my interest to learn more about the subject - REBT.Upon practice, I believe that anyone could notice a change in their behavior in a short span of time. Probably in a month.I am pleased on the structure of the book and the knowledge that I have acquired.Best of Luck.

Concise guide to overcoming passivity
Although this book can be used to challenge aggressive communication, I and possibly a larger percentage of readers will read this book to overcome passivity. There is a good portion of content to address this in such a concise guide (112 pages). For anyone unfamiliar with Psychology, Dr. Windy Dryden is a well-known figure in British psychology and author of over 150 books and has mastered the art of keeping things simple, as can be seen in this book. Two comments that resonated with me was that assertiveness is the balance between self-care and consideration for others, and assertiveness is about equality - not putting yourself down and not putting others down, and if you don't read the book yourself I believe those to be the gist. One criticism I have with the book was the details on body language. Although I understand that this can help someone analyse their style post-communication, I feel it should have been noted that it can be very counter-productive to do this during communication and can increase self-consciousness.I usually avoid writing reviews on Amazon, possibly due to my passive nature, so the fact I am writing one now is a testament to the book's worth and hopefully the first step at becoming more assertive.

Excellent
This book explains that the purpose and philosophy behind assertion is equality. Everyone is equally worthy of respect. Aggression and passivity are not based on equality and are not as functional. Practical and useful book.
