For the price, you really can't beat this product. I looked around on Amazon for a lock box just for personal important documents, etc. It didn't have to be fancy or fireproof, but did need to lock and stay locked. This fits the bill-it's not really 'heavy' but certainly has some weight to it and it feels really well made and sturdy. The cash plastic insert can be easily removed, but when it is in and the box is locked, there is room underneath for a few papers (about an inch of space here). Note-you *Can fit a standard size piece of computer paper in this box without folding it!* I was able to fit a pretty good stack of paper and a large journal, although I did just take the plastic insert out to do all this. The lock mechanism works great, and two keys are provided (the keys could be a little more thick-slightly flimsy but they will do the job). My only complaint is that the box doesn't stay shut unless it's locked-no latch. Not a deal breaker for me, but you can't pick it up unless it's locked. For me, I don't really mind because it means I'm always naturally assured it's locked when I go to put it away. The handle is fine, nothing special and it folds down. Overall, a great buy and a sturdy lock box. I would recommend for someone who needs a reliable box to safely secure a few documents, or even just medications or pieces of jewelry (the plastic insert has spots for stuff like that). Just what I needed! I caught my teenage daughter's friend rifling through my drawer one night that I keep my wallet in. I just needed a box to keep the honest people honest. This won't stop a determined thief but will certainly keep the sneak thieves out. The gauge of steel is adequate. It won't stop a long flathead screwdriver, but is more than enough to keep sticky fingers out. I pick locks as a hobby and was pleasantly surprised to find that the lock is actually extremely difficult to pick. The lock is double bitted and may be a wafer lock, but the keyway is so restricted that none of my traditional tools would fit. I've had a few similar mini-safes in the past and the locks were all easily defeated in seconds with anything from bobby pins to paper clips - not this one. After 30 minutes or so of fumbling to keep tension on the cylinder, I gave up and deemed it adequate for my intended usage. I feel secure keeping my watch, wallet and pocket dump in this thing next to the bed as I sleep. Buy what you need. If you're not protecting your valuables against burglars, this will do the job. My wife keeps her prescription medication in it as well - you know how kids are these days. Much better than expected for the price.

I purchased is not really expecting much but what ends up when you get it and physically look at it is there are two sides for currency and six slots in the center for change so you even have a place for half dollars and dollars or extra slots if you have to do change and you need to like extra slots for quarters because the you use a lot of those so that was nice. As far as the lot go I was fundamentally disappointed in the beginning because the lock was extremely hard to turn and I figured this is why they were selling it at such a cheap price but after I jostled the tray around the lock works great it seems extremely sturdy it’s not like somebody can either not walk away with this if you have it outside or break into it with a screwdriver but at least he’ll slow them down and force them to physically break into the unit. The other thing I like by having the currency on the other side if you have two people working out of the box they can share the change that’s not a big deal but you can keep track of how much cash they have by having them put whatever they collect on their own side of the box. It doesn’t mean that somebody can’t grab a part of the change from the other person side and throw it over but if it’s a friendly competition you can keep track of who’s selling the most of the flea market. Plus I like to have my small bills on one side and the bigger bills on the other side oh so you can lift up the tree and there’s plenty of room underneath or anything that’s 20 or bigger that you may wanna keep in the box I would recommend that you keep 20 or bigger‘s inside your pocket in case somehow the box disappeared but if you have real change you’re such it would be good. Also if you’re going to lock it by having two keys to people can have access so again to slow down anything that might happen if you’re working with somebody else or a third person who you may not trust to be taking or touching the money you know you can say I’m sorry we only have two keys. But overall I was quite surprised it was a lot more than I was expecting.
