Pentair520549 EasyTouch Indoor Control Panel for 8 Circuit Systems

I needed to replace my old Compool control unit which is worned out and the mechanical timing setting wheels did not operate well and often did not synchronize as set ; the inside remote wall control totally failed to function. A local contractor gave me a quote and I found later Amazon's prices for the EasyTouch update hardware parts were much lower. So I bought them from Amazon.com and had my contractor install for just the labor cost. He took about an hour to install and trained me to use it. The upgraded system works really well. I can do all the settings and controls at the equipment or entirely inside the house at the wall digital control pad. The seller delivery was on time and the package was well packed with all components and literature. Now it well deserve the 5-star rating ! I will come back to update the feedback after a few years of use.

I'm not sure if I should even attempt to install this because the unit I received was in a plain brown box with someone else's address on it, torn off labels and previously opened. Clearly someone opened this, opened the sealed bags, then sent it back. When I opened the box, the unit was in a bag that had already been opened and then taped close with a piece of packing tape (sloppy job).Come on Pentair - not a great feeling to pay for a new product and get shipped an open box return.I'll update this if it works, but still not happy getting an open box product.

I upgraded from a compool 3810 to the new easy touch controller and it was a fantastic upgrade! This controller has a smaller foot print which is nice and the display gives you more information. The one thing about it which took a little getting used too, is the standard pool pump button isn’t one of the ones on the side, it is the up arrow to the left of the side buttons. The pool pump button doesn’t have an LED next too it, so you can’t just glance all the way across the room to know if it is on, but that is minor. I’m installing the iPhone interface as well, so that will give me the info anywhere I need it.

Crimp all positions on the RJ6 cable. Older ComPool systems did not crimp the 2 outside wires on the cable connector.

The green led lights are very bright on this and there is no way to opt out of using them. Was mounted in my bedroom and had to cover with foil at night.

My original control was from 1992. So this one is a big upgrade ! It has more features then the old system had. It takes a little while to understand how to navigate thru the controls but once you learn it is easy. I like the freeze option that start up when it gets close to 36 degree outside. Well worth the money.

Terrible UX!We had an older model which we liked very much until we had to replace the panel and controller. This controller is poorly conceived. Simply turning in the pool heater takes 5 or 6 steps. Rather than a pool button and heater button, Whoever created this UX did the unit a great disservice. I wish I would have known how poor the user interface was prior to installing,Will not purchase Pentair again.
