How a citizen almost became a King
Very informative account of how following the execution of Charles I manovered Oliver Cromwell to lead Britain for a decade 9almost has Royalty) with the support of the newly created New Model Army which is the forerunner for the British Army today

Could it be too short?
Not particularly well written biography of a fascinating individual who “reigned” at a point in British history that witnessed regicide and gave rise to a number of social and political movements (levelers etc...) that laid many of the foundations for later representative democracies. I’m still insearch of a good biography of Oliver Cromwell.

As good as a booklet gets
This is a booklet focussed on Cromwell, nothing more or less. Not the first book to read on the 17th century, but good on the man's strengths & weaknesses for a reader who knows the context of Cromwell's period.

Old Olly Wasn't Jolly
An excellent introductory volume on Oliver Cromwell. No doubt not as comprehensive as some would want, but as a piece of introductory or casual reading, it's a great addition to any historians library.

We need the spirit of Cromwell today !
A thorough and very readable short biography. Balanced, fair, and wise. Recommended. It also causes one to reflect on how much we need passionate and principled "leaders with a capital L" in modern Britain where supine, robotic, dimwits can be PM !
