Shamino Fishing Reels
I have several Shamino Reels, from entry level to $150 reels, all are very good Quality and so far have been very Durable, the important things for me are that they’re very smooth winding and have a very accurate and reliable drag, most times the drag is designed for the lb test of line that they’re designed for, so even if locked down it won’t break a quality fishing line.

I don't know where the bad reviews come from, fantastic real.
I love the real; I have zero issues to report. I received exactly what I paid for. I followed all the directions on the online test that should be used and the recommendations on real-to-line capacity. By following recommended directions for optimal performance the real does everything I need it to do. Great value.

Great Value. Good Reel. Not for Novice.
Out of five stars I would give it a 2.5 due to lacking versatility. PROs: Smooth. Handsome reel. Easy to operate. Light weight. Affordable. Nice reel. I love it. CON: If you are not used to it, you may accidentally release the anti-reverse lever from No Reverse to Reverse (it's at the point where you grip the rod). This happened to the first user resulting in a nasty tangled bird's nest. I ended up just cutting everything off and setting another rig --- so I swapped him for my ABU Garcia Pro Max - he went on to catch (between him and his girlfriend 10 Salmon = 27lbs of Salmon). Through the day, I caught many smaller trout with the Shimano, but twice I accidentally released the Reverse toggle. Didn't cause me any issues because I always pay attention to line tension, but if you are newer to fishing, this may cause a big problem. I won't loan this one to new anglers again because I don't want to spend time re-rigging for someone when I should be fishing.

Get a heavy duty rod for this one
Excellent reel. Strong and will reel in the large fish.

Works well. Engineered well.
Works great. Had this a while and caught a lot of large catfish. I appreciate the rear drag setting over the spool face adjuster.

a lot of reel for the buck
This is my first Shimano and very pleased so far. The bail and line retrieve have been flawless, landing fish is great and no issues to bring up. As to the few reviews I saw previously about the reverse / anti- reverse button causing issue, NO ISSUE. The rear drag adjustment knob on the rear is exactly what I was hoping for, this works great and is a real advantage. Before you head out to the water, set your drag to where you are comfortable with, trying to set the drag while you have your first fish on is not the time to do it . Just my thought. If you are looking for a rear knob adjustable drag reel, consider this Shimano, smooth and just an all around good reel.

really nice reel
I have fished with all kinds of gear over the last 45+ years in more states than I can count. My father ran halibut charters for years out of Homer, AK. I grew up in Alaska catching Halibut, every species of Salmon, Grayling, Rainbows and Lake Trout. Some were Boon and Crocket worthy but hit the grill before the record books. I have fished in the NE for Kokane. Bass and catfish in Texas. Sea Trout and Redfish out of New Orleans. Cutthroat, Rainbows and Browns in Colorado and more Rainbows and Browns in Montana. My son and I caught Red Snapper while sailing in the Bahamas. His mom and sister joined us in Baja Mexico catching Dorado and Sailfish. And of course some great trout fishing in Oregon. Shimano is a brand that provides constant quality. This reel is not their top of the line but still provides a nice smooth action which makes casting and retrieving that much more fun. I have really nice and more expensive Fluger, Daiwa and several other brands and have to admit I like this reel about as well as any of them, maybe more

Definitely not built for the long run
I like the size of it I like the fact that the line drag is in the rear I don't like the fact actual drag adjustment sucks and as of today the gear on the inside of it is starting to lock up and binding when reeling it in and making a funny rattling noise it most definitely is not no Penn or no Abu Garcia

Good reel could use more information on functionality of the dual drag system
