When locked with a tripod plate, which has rubbers longer than this Z head bottom circle diameter, will it prevent the rotation for panoramic?

Hi friend, the bottom circle is 0.5mm higher than the bottom plate prevents this from happening. If the rubber of the tripod is not so easily changed in shape, generally wouldn't prevent the rotation of Z Mount. By the way, the diameter of the bottom circle is about 48mm(inch).

Can this be connected directly to a tripod or does it require additional parts to connect to tripod?

It has a 3/8 female thread with a 1/4 adapter so you can connect it directly to any tripod without a head. You can also connect it to a ball head which acts as a leveler and use the z head as a pano head or for taking perfectly level landscape photos and still control the pan and tilt. The z head is also great for getting closer when taking macro shots of objects.
