worthy of the hype
I've been working quite a bit with jump rings and chain, and my basic pliers would sometimes leave marks on the metal. Not to mention some hand pain/discomfort and callouses near my knuckles. I'd read online that Wubbers had a finish that reduced marks on metal, and were great for hands. The prices started in the $30 range. More than I'd spend on tools before, but cheaper than having to deal with carpal tunnel or something like that later on.The Wubbers brand has a large selection of pliers, and I don't think they're all on amazon (certainly not with Prime shipping). The "baby" ones are smaller and less expensive.I noticed amazon had a good deal on two different baby wubbers, so I decided to try them out (one at a time). Sure enough, they were easy on my hands, and easy on the jump rings and chain. Are they necessary for everyone? No. But if other pliers cause discomfort, it's worth the upgrade. Or if you're making items to sell and not wear yourself, scratched/marked/dented metal can be an issue...so it's worth it. If you do chain mail, I'd say they're probably worth it.Now there are pliers out there, Lindstroms, that are pricier and possibly better, but the Wubbers have been fine so far.

Nice pliers
I own several of these pliers in the larger style. I bought these to use with opening and closing jump rings for chain maille. They work well. I did notice the coating on the handles is not as soft or as dense as the original ones I purchased. It's more coarse so a little harder on the hands. I do find that Wubbers live up to their claim to be gentler on metals than other pliers and don't mar as easily. With jump rings I still use Tool Magic on my pliers as I use enameled copper and anodized aluminum which need to be handled gently. Good product

Decent Jewelers Pliers
I bought two of these to make a bracelet of silver and andonized niobium jump-rings for my girlfriend. These are some pretty clean, solid looking tools. Made in Pakistan, the jaws close flush, are smooth, and the "baby" size makes for great control and precision. I picked up a silver ring and tried different positions and pressures, and it doesn't scratch the rings, even with a good amount of force. The handles are covered in some cheap-feeling rubber materiel, which is kind of annoying. They would have been top of the line pliers if not for that.Pretty good middle-of-the-line pliers for jewelry projects and other chainmaille related things.

Must have for wire jewelry
These are incredible pliers. I don't know how I lived without them. If you do wire wrapped jewelry, I highly recommend these. I have several pairs of pliers and these are the ones I always reach for. They don't mark the wire. The spring on mine broke the other day, but it really does not impact the functionality of the pliers.

Wonderful Wubbers
When I decided to try making chain mail, I read lots of web sites put up by professional chain mailers, and they usually gave three choices of pliers 1; basic 2. Baby Wubbers and 3. top of the line. I didn't want to make a hundred dollar investment until I tried making several bracelets, so I took the middle road and I love my Baby Wubbers. I have only made three bracelets, so somewhere down the road I may upgrade. But right now, they fit my hands, are really padded and comfortable and I have fifty dollars more to spend on jump rings.

Love them but...
I had purchased this line of jewelry pliers when they first hit the market. I own almost all of them. Well, there have definitely been some changes made to them, and not in a good way. The foam cushion on the handles is not the same as it used to be. It used to be denser, and thicker. More cushiony. The metal... Lighter weight? Thinner? The spring back action is definitely not as good. Seems like at some point there was a material cut back to cut cost on manufacturing the product. The quality was unfortunately compromised.

Goodbye big, serrated pliers.
These are the best pliers I've found for working jump rings into chainmail pieces, especially as someone who has small hands and a disorder that affects my tendon functionality. The grip doesn't stay comfortable forever, but throwing on a pair of fingerless gloves will solve that. The non-serrated jaw won't scratch up your rings, which is so worth the little bit of extra effort it takes to do precise work with flat jaw pliers (in my opinion).
