Samsung C3590 2.4" 99.76g Black - mobile phones (Single SIM, MiniSIM, Calculator, EDGE, GPRS, GSM, 240 x 320 pixels, TFT)

Bought this for my mother and she absolutely loves it. Better than the Doro phones and they are good. Easy to use, clear colour screen, nice laid out keypad. Case is plastic but dont be put off. If you want a phone that simply dials and texts this is the alternative to a smart phone. It has web access if you really want it but the screen is small for viewing web pages. Its a clam shell so opens / folds up but that doesn't make it bulky and will fit in a pocket. Its straemlined and can't fault it for a basic phone. There have been many questions, does it do this or does it do that. My answer would be if you need a phone that has gadgets and greater functionality then get a smart phone but if like me I wanted a basic phone for my elderly mother to use then like the Doro this phone does that. It does come with a camera and Bluetooth plus some ring tome options. Its clear to hear its clear to read and its clear and simple to use.

If you want a phone that phones, texts and takes the odd picture then this is a good choice at a reasonable price. It does quite a lot of other things but I'm not bothered and I might use them occasionally. It has a battery life of a week or more on standby which is great. The phone comes without wallpapers or choice of ringtones but these can be downloaded for free from lots of sites on the internet. This is easy to do using your PC provided you have a USB cable with a micro connector to plug into the phone and once you have found out how to make the phone and PC interact. Unfortunately this is not described in the instruction leaflet which comes with the phone and only after a lot of hunting around on the internet and pretty much by accident did I discover you have to load the Kies application from the Samsung website which has all the drivers to let your PC and the phone interconnect. Once you have done that you can download wallpaper and ringtone files to your pc and then just copy them across to the phone. This really should be described in detail in the instructions which is why I give it 4 rather than 5 stars. I have had the phone for several weeks now and been very pleased with it in use so overall I am happy to recommend it.

Excellent delivery. well packed. A replacement phone for one my husband has already had the same model as before. easy to use for phone calls and messages which is all he wants it for. He is very pleased with it.

Excellent flip dumbphone with great battery life and none of the disadvantages of the ridiculously priced and unnecessary smartphones. I wish there were more phones like this. You will need to order a micro SD card to store photos, link to your PC, add ringtones, etc. Very pleased overall.

I had already bought a red GT C3590 phone and because it had everything I wanted, I ordered this black phone (for someone else) but from a different supplier to the red one. When it arrived I found there were no ringtones to choose from and no 'wallpapers' either - just a black screen. The item was returned immediately as not as described (I knew the other phone had these installed so it was not correct). I have been refunded. Presumably it makes a difference who you buy the phone from, but why I have no idea. I would expect them all to be the same. If I had had this first I would not have kept it, nor would I have ordered another. I have reviewed the red phone under the one from the other supplier - giving it 5 stars! However, I subsequently ordered and received another black phone from the same supplier as the red one. This turned up and is perfect - strange or what. The phone has a flip case, which I want, has a choice of MP3 ringtones (albeit not brilliant), which are fairly loud but still not great when in a noisy environment. Voice is loud enough. It has the features I require - it is a phone and is OK for texting (still have to wait before pressing letters on same key as it does not move to the next quickly enough and I find I have foreign characters or something, which is annoying). It has bluetooth and internet if I want to be bothered. I have used the camera and it seems fine. I have put in a micro memory card (4gb) which also appears OK. Apparently I can transfer pictures from card to PC using card reader but I have yet to try this. It charges from flat in 1-2 hours and the battery lasted for two weeks on standby 10-12 hours per day and minimal phone/texting. Heavy use of games, camera, internet would probably eat up battery, but presumably that is normal). As flip phones go, it looks great and does what I need. This phone is normally only available in Tesco with their network, but this is unlocked and I just put in my PAYG card and it worked! Recommended if everything is installed in the first place! I don't know if you can put your own ringtones on the phone because I have no idea how you would do it anyway but it has usb port (where it charges) so assume you could.
