"ABSOLUTELY A MASTERPIECE"
THE BAND:Bruce Dickinson- Vocals (Amazing vocalist with a unique voice)Steve Harris- Bass (Arguably the best heavy metal bassist around)Adrian Smith- Lead/Rhythm Guitars (Great melodic, bluesy solos)Dave Murray- Lead/Rhythm Guitars (Great shredding solos)Nicko McBrain- Drums (Awesome drummer)THE TRACKS:The album contains literature quotes, songs about famous books/movies fusioned in great heavy metal sound.Masterfully produce and mixed by Martin Birch-Where Eagles Dare:Repeats the story of the same-titled Clint Eastwood movie. The song starts out with a pulse-like, emotional beat, and is followed by a heavy and catchy (although predictable) riff. The drumms sound amazing-Revelations:This song starts out with a hymnal passage of some sort.Is an atmospheric song, that manages to be both dark and beautiful. Bruce's performance here is amazing.-Flight of Icarus:The most emotional song of the album, that was so good that people that are not into metal at all tend to like it very much. The pre-chorus/chorus kind of runs together in an awesome display of underlying bass-Die With Your Boots On: This song is probably the one that suffers the least from the hard-rock guitar.Good lyrics, amazing drums, the vocals(Harris and Smith do some nice backup, by the way)are among the best, and even the guitar is unique in this amazing song.-The Trooper:This is one of my favorite Iron Maiden songs ever. The call-to-arms opening riff and the galloping bass lines fit so well with the lyrics of a soldier's futile battle that it brings shivers to my spine almost every time.-Still Life:Is one of the songs that most benefits from double guitars. The chorus are simple, but don't deny the power this song holds over your ears!-Quest For Fire:The most anachronistic song of the disc. The voice of Dickinson reaches the high notes of all the album.-Sun and Steel:Other great song, incorporate some galloping rhythms into it, which is always a plus for me.-To Tame a Land:In the grand tradition of epic closers. It's based off of the book "Dune," which I haven't read. But the theme is evident in that Egyptian scale also found in the band's title track to "Powerslave," so you'll get a feeling for it.****FINAL NOTES***: I BUY THE "RAW POWER" IMPORTED VERSION CD FOR ONLY $4 BUCKS,WITH THE SELLER "BIG BOX BARGAIN",THATS WHY I LIKE TO BUY IN AMAZON.
