As a beginner, self-taught silversmith I started out with a set of inexpensive mini hand files before buying this one…and WOW, I had no idea what a difference it makes using a quality file!! With the endless variety of tools, a metalsmith uses quality hand files wasn’t at the top of my list initially. Personally, what I’d recommend knowing what I know now is slowly replace your cheap files with quality jewelers files as you can afford it. They simply glide like butter on your metals and cut the time you spend filing in half! My takeaway: buying quality over quantity will save you time and money in the long run! Which is essentially what everyone else said before I actually experienced the difference myself! 🤪 I’m a total believer now!
