If I need a 40 cfm fan is it ok to use a 50 cfm fan?

It's generally a good idea to install a fan that moves more air than you need. I need 74 cfm, but I'm going to get this 80 cfm fan. I also have a window, so that will improve circulation as well.

I got the 50 cfm and it's white. There wasn't a choice for color. But I love that it's bright and super quiet.

Flies are coming in through the fan. How can I keep this from happening?

Attics often have flies living in them when the temp is right and these light / ventilation units frequently have holes in the case where they were mechanically stamped or where wiring comes in. Flies are attracted to the light in your house through these little gaps and eventually make their way in. The cure is to get rid of the flies or eliminate their access to the holes with insulation above the unit or tape over the entry points in the unit. Might be possible that flies are coming throught the exhaust vent and reasonable to check that but generally that is not the problem.
