Accurate & Well Made
In anticipation of making some custom cardboard boxes for some collectables, I purchased this 16 inch square as the added length over my 12 inch square would be handy for the project. Given that the material would be cardboard I didn't feel I needed to go to a Starrett, Brown & Sharpe or Bridge City tool and the expense. This Empire is no substitute for the aforementioned manufacturors of course, but at the $15.00 cost it is well made and performed the job. No slop with the blade and all is solid. Very precise as well.Using my Brown & Sharp square as well as a Bridge City square for checking accuracy there was no dicernible deflection along the length of the Empire blade just using naked eye.Well made, accurate and at around fifteen bucks ... hard to find any fault with this square. And Made In U.S.A.

That's all I can say. Quality tool at a great price.

Great value
Does it’s job well. Love the parts. Accurate level. Biggest grip is that it does not slide smoothly, but I have not come across a better square for the price.

Almost perfect - be aware of the sharp edges.
Accurate - perfectly square. Very nice to look at. I love the blue bubble. Very easy to read the etched markings. In agreement with another reviewer, the edges are super crisp. Watch out for those!

Not a Sarette, but it is a quality tool! etched numbers in stainless steel which is all I need in my workshop environment. Fit and finish tight and it appears to be accurate when comparing to my calipers?I'm an empire guy!Will purchase more of their products

Not worth it
Mine came out of square and had odd machining marks on the head. The head is shaped differently than pictured, looks like the current ones you see at home centers with no curves for your hand to fit into, just straight lines. The rule is measured nicely in standard and metric but without the head being square, it loses the main function. I'd suggest buying something else.

For the money, 5 STARS!
It is very close to my Swiss micrometer. It is not as precise, but "very" accurate. I would highly recommend it and would buy it again if lost or stolen.
