The flap will work perfectly once you run your finger around the flush valve rim that it sits on. I had not done this and the newly installed fill valve was refilling intermittently which meant water was leaking through the flap. I watched the Kholer video about how to install the flap, looked inside the toilet, felt around the rim under the flap and sure enough, there was irregularly… maybe lime scale, debris. I just gently rubbed the rim with the tip of my rubber glove until it felt smooth… no sanding/abrasion. Problem fixed!!!! No more intermittent refilling! Also, as described in the video, I made sure the chain was taut by attaching the hook two links in. Did the trick!

OEM flapper as advertised
OEM part. Instructions could have been a little clearer to note to slide out and back in the stick section. Also, the instruction said to use no more than 3 links, for my toilet, I needed to install at the 5th link. Happy with the quality of the replacement and figured out install so will give high marks for product

The only one that fits
I have two Kohler toilets and tried after market flappers before. None of them worked satisfactory. This is the OEM item that fits the toilet and stops the leak. However, I do not understand why the diameter of the flapper cannot be 1/8" larger. The new flapper works for some time, like a year or two, but then it literally shrinks the difference between a brand new item and the one I have replaced is between 1/16" to 1/8". This seemingly small difference makes flapper to leak as it does not fits the opening. The flapper does not perfectly align with the hole as there is some amount of play in the hinge. The brand new item has enough tolerance to cover the hole regardless of misalignment. The old shrunk item no longer fits on the top of the hole without small cracks between the edge of the flapper and the hole, thus it starts leaking. At first the leak may be intermittent and re-flashing makes it stop, but in-time the leak becomes permanent and requires flapper replacement. This is frustrating as the rubber of the flapper is not in any way deteriorated. it is still soft and pliable. Kohlers are the only toilets in my house where I have replaced flappers many times, at least every other year. I am completely at loss why this is such a problem, as I have mentioned above, making the part 1/8" large will probably solve this defect.

Buy THIS one NOT off brand
Do not buy the cheaper off brand one, I have gone through 4 of them in the last year just to save a couple bucks only to have them not work. This one is the one to buy its worth a few extra bucks to avoid repeated hassle.

Original part - used it on the single Kohler Rialto - single piece toilet. Highly recommended.
This is so much better than any aftermarket parts that I have used in the past (because the original Kohler flapper was much more expensive). It goes on very easily compared to the other brands because of the use of the bar in the back - sliding it into the groove is much easier compared to the other brands that have a stretchy plastic which needs to slide into place. Post installation, I did not see any leakage as it covered the hole leading to the toilet bowl completely. Yet to determine if this lasts longer than the aftermarket flapper that typically give you about two years - at least in the mid-Atlantic region. I will come back and update once I have enough feedback on how this long this one lasts, before it starts leaking because the flapper has shrunk in size.

Flapper fits and works perfectly
I liked that the flapper included a new chain plus new post for installation; it took 5 minutes to replace the old one which had degraded and was leaking. If your toilet bowl is running constantly and the flapper looks bad try using one of these to replace it before calling a plumber.

Flapper is an easy install but one must order the model that's made for that specific toilet.
