Warm, Flickering Brilliance
I had been looking for four battery-operated candles for our front windows and settled on these because they were reasonably priced, had a light sensor, and looked charming. I am exceptionally pleased with these. No, the flames are not white, but candle flames should not be white. If you're going for the modern classic white look, these are not the candles for you. Instead, they offer a warm orange glow, and with the flicker setting engaged, they really do give off a look of a lit candle. I find them so homey and charming. Coming home from work with my Christmas lights on and these beauties in the window really make it feel like Christmas.Other features I like:- Narrow bases for narrow sills plus a clip to hold them on if need be.- Relatively sturdy construction.- Plastic flames rather than glass virtually eliminate any possibility of breakage (important as I have a nosy 20 month old who loves lights).- LED lights that will last forever.- No cords or outlet-hogging!- Bright but not blinding (nice when the blinds are closed in the bedroom and you don't want distracting lights at bedtime).- Light sensor to automatically turn off during daylight hours.I don't care for having to use C batteries, but hopefully they will last longer than AAs. Box promises they will last all season, but I cannot confirm yet. At any rate, I'd rather use C's than cords anyway.I would definitely buy again and again. Very happy customer!Updated May 2016: I still love these lights. They come on every night without fail and set my house apart from the neighborhood homes. They're warm and inviting, and since I purchase them in December of 2014, I've only had the change the C batteries twice, so basically once every seven or so months. That's not too bad. The sensors still work well, and they're very sturdy. My toddler was fond of knocking the flame against the window, but the glue-like coating on the outside of the bulb kept them safe, and they're all still flickering away like champs. I will be buying some more for my back windows this year as well.

Outstanding product provides a nice warm glow
I love these window candles! I purchased two of them from Home Depot years ago, and two was enough when I lived in a small townhouse with only one side of the house facing the street. This year I moved to a single family home on a corner in a historic district, and now I have 30 windows, with all four sides of the house visible from various angles. So, I needed a few more candles!I was so happy to find these available on Amazon, because they match exactly the two that I purchased years ago. I purchased from a Marketplace vendor, because the price was better. $12 per unit seems pretty high when you have so many windows to fill. The first two I purchased have lasted 10 years so far, and they still work great. I hope to get as many years out of the 23 more that I just purchased! The candles are durable. I am not concerned about them breaking if a curious kitty knocks them down. The brightness is just right when viewed from outdoors. It is a warm yellow light that is provides a soft warm flickering glow that is visible from a distance.Be warned that the flickering light is so effective that if you wake from a deep slumber and see the flickering light before you are awake enough to process what is causing the flickering, you may immediately think there's a fire outside causing a flickering light in your window. (I mention this only because it happens to me the first couple nights I have them out each year!)You will be satisfied with this purchase!

I found the batteries lasted from Dec. 2014 until late summer 2015.
On my first holiday use, no problems so far. I ordered a number of them and all arrived in fine shape. Expect that you may have to orient the sensor side of the candle to the out-of-doors to get proper use of that function. The batteries aren't inexpensive, but the convenience, appearance, and initial cost were a convincer for me.Up-date. I got eleven of these in mid-December for the holidays and have been so pleased that they (mostly) are still in our front and side windows now (mid-March). The nights have been dark and long during this time but it was only until yesterday that one of them finally exhausted its battery. I am surprised the two standard "C" store batteries have lasted so long in these candles burning all night long. I continue to like their flicker and their flame color, but that is individual taste I'm sure. I'm moving my rating up to 5 stars.Up-date 2. This is year two, it is May 13th and the Xmas candles I placed last Nov. are all still going brightly . Great night lights. I've dropped them repeatedly opening and closing windows, but they all still function well. These candles were a GOOD purchase. Here's a year four update (2019) they are all still working great! Nov-March No problems with them at all.

Wish they were a bit brighter but they will work. Love that they have a light sensor
I use these candles in our windows to brighten up our home and add to curb appeal in the dark and dismal days of fall and winter and add some light to our exterior holiday décor. I ordered a few extra to have as spares and also to use inside the house in case we have a power outage. They are a great alternative to candles with real flames and look nice in a room ready to use if needed. I just wish they were a bit brighter and the light not a orange but they will work. Love that they have the light sensor and go on and off themselves at the appropriate time. I cannot comment on the longevity of the battery life or candles. I did have a set that I used previously and they were still going strong for about 15 years but they were lost in our move and these are replacements. They do look like the same style and brand.

Great Candles
I love these candles. I like that they fit easily onto a window ledge without a cord hanging down. It would be nice if the batteries lasted just a little bit longer. They are a tad expensive but worth it. I have ordered 3 sets of these -- one for me, one for my daughter, and now one set for my grandddaughter.
