Just the right amount of flavor for espresso or coffee! So smooth and creamy. The best coffee and a great price for 6 bags!

Cutting our caffeine intake by half. This decaf is the flavor bomb!!
This was a delightful surprise. My husband is not supposed to be drinking too much coffee, and I have high BP, but he refuses to cut back. Since I prepare the coffee maker the day before, I decided to start looking into decaffeinated coffee again. Decaf coffee has really come a long way. Wow! There are really cool coffees that are decaffeinated using more natural methods these days. They can come with a very hefty price tag…so I looked at Starbucks.Starbucks decaf is more reasonably priced for our wallet just now, and from all that I have read, we still get the benefits of drinking coffee, but without all the caffeine. And it is so yummy, mixed with our regular coffee, Seattle’s Best medium roast, that he has noticed no change whatsoever, and we are drinking 50% less caffeine every day, without any headaches! This decaf has all of the Starbucks flavor I hoped for.Happy Coffee Drinker.

Pretty Good Coffee!
Sadly, after 45 years, caffeine had to go. I've tried quite a few different decaf's and so far this is not only the best tasting that I have found but also the best value. I bought 6 - 12 oz. bags for $29.62, or about 41 cents per ounce. You will find a few less expensive and plenty that are more expensive. The difference in flavor comes from, in my opinion, the process used to decaffeinate the beans. Turns out that extracting caffeine from coffee beans is quite difficult and time consuming. The result is a higher price product that often does not taste as good as "real" coffee. Swiss Water Process sounds wholesome and wonderful but it extracts flavors from beans that can't be put back in. This Starbucks decaf is made with the direct method, which uses methyl chloride to extract the caffeine. Yes, that sounds industrial and artificial but it's actually very clean and efficient. The process results in fewer flavor losses. There is another extraction method called the CO2 process, which is supposed to be even better. Have yet to try coffee decaffeinated this way. It is almost twice the price of this Starbucks House blend. Your mileage may vary but I like this just fine.

Goldilocks brew- not too dark not too light, just right- nice tasty decaf [4/3/21 addendum]
Quite happy with Pike's Place Decaf. I was pressed to seek an alternate to my favorite which has been N/A for a while (Kirkland Gourmet Dark Columbian Decaf ground), and found a deal for this grind and gave it a shot. Very pleased it wasn't too weak or dark which seems to be a bit of a subjective attribute I've found. I'm preferential to medium dark brews, that are full bodied and rich without the burned, smokey acrid taste you get with Dark French. But as it says "Medium" on the package, I hoped it wouldn't be weak as I find some "medium" blends to be, and it was not. It was not quite as dark/rich as the Kirkland, but has light chocolaty notes and very much satisfies. We drink a lot of decaf and have gone through several bags. I bought more and expect I will again.4/3/21 addendum: Still a fan of this coffee, but have recently learned that this product, (and all but 2 Starbucks decafs), is decaffeinated using methylene chloride. This may be of concern to people and certainly the lack of labeling is a point of controversy. I learned about this by chance when I discovered a bargain source for of near sell-by dated commercial packaged Pike's at a fraction of the price; these commercial pouches prominently display the notification that the coffee is processed with methylene chloride which caused me some concern. Many/most products are produced this method, from what I found doing some homework. We've been consuming such decaf for a long time, unknowingly, without ramifications (of which we are aware). My understanding from my few reads is that the residual trace is negligible, unlikely to be a health concern, but I thought I would add this note to my review. Cheers
