Gone with the Wind

Yet another piece of American history the liberals want to cancel because it doesn't fit their 21st century world view. So I bought it before they could succeed in making Gone With The Wind go down a memory hole like they've done with Song of the South. Since the libs are never interested in facts they'll never see that the smartest, most level headed character in the whole movie is Mammy. They just go with their surface emotions. This movie is a classic. It's amazing. Is it dated? Yes. But it's still an important piece of US movie history. What I find interesting is that the same lefties who want to cancel this movie or even King Kong think that Battleship Potemkin (Stalinist Propaganda) and Triumph of the Will (Nazi Propaganda) are incredible pieces of art.

My grandmother wanted nothing more, than to watch the movie with myself and my cousin. We sat for four hours to watch it, and my grandma kept recalling scenes that apparently were NOT included in this. There were at least three scenes she had vivid memories of. This copy was in color as well... which my grandmother said, “the color being added to the film, made Rhett look sleazy”. The dvd and the integrity of the casing was in good condition.

This review is for the 70th Anniversary edition Blu ray of Gone With The Wind.While I had seen parts of it here and there over my several decades, I don’t believe I ever saw it in its entirety.With the recent issues regarding race in the country, and hearing and seeing this movie is a bone of contention with many, I wanted to buy this before Amazon and others decided to not sell it anymore.This version is just stunning in color for a movie released in 1939. Be advised the aspect ratio is 1.33:1. Full screen with bars on the left and right side. This didn’t really bother me, as I was able to use the settings on the tv to have it fill the screen without having any of it cut off. The run time is 3:53 which appears to be the original length, so I do not believe any of it is cut in this edition as other reviewers are alleging. The sound is Dolby TrueHD, but it wasn’t anything special, but I think the restorers of this film got everything they ou.d from the original soundtrack.As for the movie itself, if you can appreciate the effort that is made in producing an epic like this, you can understand why this is considered by many as the best movie of all time. While the focus is largely about high-maintenance Scarlett, the movie is really much more than that. There is definitely more to it that kept a war and western movie loving guy like me fully entertained. David O. Selznick and the crew really went all out and it shows, and of course without CGI effects. I believe this is the only movie of Vivian Leigh’s I have seen, but she probably deserved to win 5 Oscars for this. You could tell she just knew how to handle the role of Scarlett.For those out there who may be reluctant to watch GWTW, you’re cheating yourself if you don’t watch this at some point in time. It is that good.

The color and drama of the movie are excellent on this DVD. I recommend Amazon to my friends.

I purchased this video because it is an awesome movie and with the way things are going I want to be sure that this classic is never lost because of banning. I will not open the package and will keep it in prime condition for future generations to come.

I've loved this movie my whole life and finally decided to purchase it so I can watch it whenever I want. So happy I did.

Nostalgic excellence, beautifully remastered to allow playing on modern TV's and home theater. A classic of our time that even pre-special effects era it is so good one overlooks to technology available at the time (1939!). The bundle includes a gorgeous music box and book on costumes. It makes for a special gift.
