Father knows Würst
This subtitled German comedy centers around the ambivalent Zenker family, the rigid beleaguered patriarch, Wolfgang (Edgar Selge), a Willy Lomanesque salesman for over-40 hausfrau passé fashion, his spouse Erika (Franziska Walser) exhausted by a static marriage, and Karsten (Florian Bartholomäi), their son, an ungrateful and ambiguous youth liberated for a pre-collegiate summer fling without a worldly care.Changing times and finances intercede. Steven Brookmüller (Roman Knižka), the new salesman competes with younger-trending outfits for sparse commissions from the manufacturer’s customers. Brigitta (Traute Hoess), Erika’s man-loathing friend, fosters her own ambitions and pretensions on the impressionable Zenker matriarch. While driving Karsten and a pair of female companions to the airport, a detour to retrieve forgotten boarding passes leads to a speed-trap confrontation over Wolfgang’s license suspension. Wolfgang’s world quickly crumbles. The dissembling ensues.Everymann, frau und kind will find something to identify with here. There are truly warm moments interspersed with light comic relief. Enjoy.

It is all about family.
Prima! Good scipt, well-acted, good direction and a sweet love story told in a new way! Light comedy, rather provocative, though unoriginal theme which is--it's all about family in the end. Setting aside, for the moment, the genetic predisposition to dysfunction for all individuals in families, we see the tensions rise in this film's family as their individual goals, hopes and dreams collide and ultimately disintegrate. Out of the wreckage something different/new (and hopefully better) emerges; at least that is the moral of this family's story. Perhaps, a bit Pollyanna, buthopeful.

Enjoyable, but somewhat overwrought.
Mostly likeable comedy interspersed with a couple very unsympathetic characters. The two romantic leads do a fine job, as does the mother. The mother's friend and the father/husband are well-acted, but the ending is quite unbelievable, and the father's "redemption" seems totally out of character considering his reprehensible behavior throughout the film.

I love happy endings.
Not bad. I love happy endings. It just drags a bit. I like that the gay son proves himself with his love of family and gay self. I love the way it ends with the Germain family heading to Spain. Their Spanish is better than mine. You figure.

It is a funny movie if you give it a chance
It is a funny movie if you give it a chance. The main characters father really can be really annoying but I found the movie overall enjoyable.

Predictable But Enjoyable
German gay cinema is certainly different. This was a bit predictable but enjoyable for a rainy afternoon inside. P.S. I love Germans!

Sweet and innocent
If you just want to watch a sweet innocent gay comedy, this is it. The two main characters are two of Germany`s most wanted eyecandies (both straight in real life, unfortunately....) Enjoy!

Amusing
Good comedy that loses little in translation via subtitles. Humor is universal, I guess. The two main characters are good looking and believable. Amusing.
