Great Light for the Price, Easy App to Control
I already had the Fluval Sea/Marine 3.0, while it was a great starting light for a 40B Reef Tank, I needed to add more light to help grow SPS corals....so I bought a really good Chinese Black Box Light...really loved the performance and value of it...but... It has the world's most complex timer features...I even contacted company directly, and while they were great, I was still stumped. The great thing about the Fluval 3.0 Marine Light is the app...it's simply easy to use and adjust from sunrise to sunset and night time...and so is this Nano Light...you just plug it in and press the + button on the app...and Bam...it finds the new light and synced up right away...you can then adjust all your colors and times and leave it alone. The other Chinese Black Box light, not so much...every morning turn it on, press the W button 3 times, press the B button 6 times, at night turn the W button off, dim the B button by pressing 3 times, then eventually turn off. We have people who house sit for us when out of town, and I couldn't imagine explaining what I said above to that person....so now...no worries if we go out of town. And Lastly, it's an amazing light....yes it's smaller then CBB light, but oh My!!! This thing is just as good, if not better , especially with ease of use from the app then the previous CBB light. I am very impressed. We use it as a secondary light on our 40B, and I highly recommend it!! Only issue is...it is really made for a rimless Nano Tank, the mounting bracket is short, and does not work with a rimmed tank, but thankfully, I was able to reverse engineer a way to mount it and even use the same plug and bracket as the CBB light...so I'm all good now.

Better then reviews and will grow sps no problems.
After reading and watching reviews on this light I wasn’t really expecting much tbh. 1) The mount doesn’t work with a normal tank rim so I ended having to notch a small piece out of the lip where the lid would sit to make it work. Not the end of the world but could be designed better. Seems the mount is only made for rimless tanks. 2) the Bluetooth control app although easy to install and setup takes some time to figure out how to use. It’s bit very user friendly but it does everything you need it too once you figure out how to use it. 3) The preset light settings are horrible you will need to make your own settings. They are way to powerful in the wrong spectrums. 4) if light looses power it will not turn back on until you connect back to it through the app as if all the settings are not stored internally with a capacitor and it doesn’t remember what to do wo connecting back to your phone. Now on to the good things.. 1) has way more power then given credit. I can cook sps with this thing if I need to. I haven’t measured the par but on a 10g pico this is installed I and getting fast growth at even just 60% v-b and 8% whites.. I have no doubt this light can be used on tanks up to 18” deep long as you keep sps to the top 2/3 of the tank. 2) the light spread is way underrated. Most value lights are going to come with 90* lenses this lights 120* lenses really shines. I’ve got sps all the way to once side of the tank near top and it’s wncrusted it’s plug in just 2 weeks wo 2 part dosing. All in all I think this is a great light. Just enough shimmer wo getting that cheap disco ball effect. The swiveling if the mount for easier access to tank is great and you’ll be using it every day. It could be a bit more range in the swivel but it’s wbkugh I can swing one way and access that half then swing the other way for the other side. As low as this light sits over the tank this is a big must and it has it. There is very little shading anywhere and considering this is a 20” Long tank with just a 5” light mounted only 6” above the surface I tend to think even that 120* lenses ratting is a bit under stated. I’ve dropped water all over the light wo issues. The mount has plenty of adjustability for any size or shape tank you’d be using this on. I wouldn’t hesitate to use 3 of these in a 40g breeder setup on bit. The “cyan” coloring is not the normal cyan you find in other lights. Most of the time this is a version of your whites and greens mixed.. on this light it’s not. This is your light blue spectrum and the blue is your royal blue so don’t short yourself on this when designing your own profiles. FYI the reds are way over powering and I recommend not using them at all unless you like growing algea. I’m running 100% v-b-c no reds and 8% whites now after starting with 60% settings while corals were acclimating to tank. You have all the features of the HD primes, kessil, and radion xr lights with being able to adjust specific intensities, spectrums, with custom times allowing for ramping up and down. You can even if you want under the pro settings adjust when each color spectrum starts it’s ramp. For example I use just v-b on one hour ramp to 100% till 5pm then whites ramp to 8% then at 10 everything ramps down together to 5% blue moonlights for two hours then dark resting period. This way I’m only blasting with whites for when I’m around to view the tank and only enough for my viewing preference. If you wanted to run this on a sps only tank you can up to 18” deep I’m sure of it. The only issue is you’ll likely have to run whites at max to get the par up.

Great light, great app
Great Light. Perfect for my 10 gallon rimless. Be aware that this light is not made to be used with an aquarium that has rim, max it fits is 8mm. The app works great, many features to choose from. I do wish it was wifi so I could monitor when away. Light is bright, I have it on a dennerle shrimp king 10 g. It would be cool in future updates if users could share their light settings in the Pro mode. There are three settings manual, auto, and pro. All can be further customized as you wish. Or you can use one of the three preset pro settings or the preset auto setting or make your own using any of the three. The app is the same that works with the entire fluval Plant Spectrum LED line. You can independently set all available led light colors including three different white color warmths. It took me less than five minutes to have the light installed and set on a schedule using one of the preset pro schedules. The light seems to be bright enough to grow high light plants in a 10 gallon, and probably could do low to medium in a 15 gallon. The price can't be beat for a fixture with 63 leds and a built in ramp timer and customizations available. I left the dennerle nano 5.0 led up for size and output comparison. The dennerle is the same price, but has less leds (12) and no timer, I had to spend another $11 for a ramp timer for it. This light is IP67 so it should survive just fine over an open top aquarium and even if dropped in the water. Only other small flaw is that the LED module is not replaceable, this would be nice. Last two picture show light difference between the dennerle nano 5.0 and Fluval with all leds on 100.

Nice little nano light
I have been using two of these units with the app for a month now and recently purchased a 36" Fluval Plant LED for a larger tank. It's a great little unit when paired with the app. The timer and time points settings are great to just set and leave them to function. The app is a bit tricky to get the hang of but there are videos out there to help with the learning curve. One thing that is a bit frustrating is the light profile. I use the app on two devices, one phone and one tablet. If I leave the app while still in a specific tank profile, I am unable to connect with the other device. So, if I am using the profile on my phone and do not "leave" the profile (Manual/Auto/Pro page), I cannot access the light on my tablet. I need to go back in on my phone, leave the profile (back to the main page) and then I can access it on the tablet, if that makes sense. I assume only one device can access a profile at one time. Not a dealbreaker, and maybe not everyone's experience, but it happens for me and can be a bit frustrating at times. Otherwise, a great product, with a lot of customization at a relatively decent price point, and a very pleasing aesthetic for aquarium lighting solutions.

Great light for the price and very bright.
I actually have 3 of these lights, the first on my small 3 gallon tank. First off, yes, this light is bright enough for larger tanks but bear in mind that the tank size and shape does play an important factor. I bought a second unit to test on my low-tech 20 gallon long rimless planted tank. It's 36 inches long, 11 inches deep and 12 inches wide, so not as tall when compared to standard tank sizes. Even at 45% a single Nano was bright enough to keep most of tank adequately lit and gave enough light for my plants (mostly moderate light requirement plants) to establish themselves during my dark cycle. I ended up getting another one and now run 2 of them as I prefer to have more room to manage my plants without having to take an entire light strip off. However, do the research about aquarium lighting. The deeper the tank, the more light falloff you will see as it travels through the water to the bottom. Also take into account how thick the substrate/aqua soil layer is. If you're wondering about PAR values, apparently a site that tested it reported that at a height of 12 inches and 6" from the back wall of the tank, the Nano's PAR value was 68. But take that with a grain of salt. Other than that, my thoughts: Pros - Bright, easy to install. Solid construction. - App is super handy, no issues with it connecting (iOS). Love the timer function - sleek design, not bulky - can save lighting profiles in the app and apply it to another Nano or Fluval light if you have one. - Bracket mounts on the rim with no issues and have rubber padding. Note, the glass on my tank is 8mm thick. From what I can tell, this would be the max thickness, as I don't really have to tighten the mounting screws Cons - While the app works, it's clunky. Would be nice to enter in the brightness percentages by typing, but you have to use sliders. There's also no "undo" button. - Can't really link 2 lights together. Need to save one profile and then apply the setting to another. More of a nice to have than a necessity really. - Have heard some Android users have had issues with the app.

It may grow low-light corals, but should only be used for pico aquariums.
I purchased this product for a small Fluval Spec V nano reef so that I could have greater flexibility with my light schedule, instead of the simple on/off of my previously used $40 black box LED. The light was very easy to set up - the app was straightforward and I didn't have any issues with the actual hardware. That said, the light spread produced by this light is very, very small and narrow. I placed it over the center of my (small) aquarium, and ramped up the lights over a week. Even at full power, only the softies directly underneath it so much as opened up after a few more weeks, so I replaced it with my $40 cheap led and all of the corals were happy once again. At this point, it's sitting unused in a box somewhere. I give it 3 stars because it does produce a pleasant light to look, and it is very easy to use, and it may work well on a 3g pico or something similar, but I can't recommend it for anything larger. At the relatively high price point, it'd be worthwhile to spend a bit more and get a true nano light with a bit more power.

Best light i have ever had!
Okay. I have two of these now. For a couple years. I love them. I read a review that said the app was bad, buy I have had the app even longer, (because I own two aquasky lights as well), and the app is super simple. Not really sure what people thought was complex or bad about it, but I love it. LOVE it. I have the nano lights on a marineland 5gal and a fluval betta tank. Plants are thriving, and have been for years. Betta fish don't like super bright lights, and so just turn the light down, and also have plants and/decorations to hide under if they want. Also, learn how to use the lights and adjustable utilities. (It's not complicated at all.) I'm gonna buy another tank soon, and thus another nano light soon. As long as you're even semi-capable, you'll love this light!
