Q: do I need to prime first?

You should. I have seen people that did not and gotten good results. There is another product of Chromakey Green that does come with the primer. That is the HD Video version with 8K Primer: https://www.amazon.com/ChromaKey-Primer-Gallon-Screen-Equivalent/dp/B081QSB4GD

Q: Does this paint work on a texturized wall?

Yes. My studio has texturized walls. I painted one of the walls for my green screen and made a video. It worked fine. Note: I used 2 coats which the manufacturer recommends.

Q: How many square feet can 1 gallon cover?

1 Gallon can do 400 square feet (single coat) and 200 square feet (double coat). For a double coat, that would be 20 feet (6 m) x 10 feet (3 m). If you look at the ChromaKey quart size product, one of the images shows a comparison of the paint area for a single quart versus a gallon.

Q: Why wait 4 hrs for next coat?

In paint, there is something called blocking. You can search for it for more info, but basically if you do not wait the full 4 hours between coats, you may see bubbles form on the surface. It also lengthens the total time to properly dry the paint from a day to weeks.
