King of Diamonds: A Dark Mafia Romance (Vegas Underground) Paperback – June 13, 2018

This book is great!!! It has everything! I found myself laughing right out loud and, being embarrassed right along with Sondra (the fmc)! Renee Rose has the ability to write in such a way that I found myself feeling like I was right in the story feeling their emotions!! I fell in love with Nico and how bossy he was and Sondra with all her kindness! I definitely recommend this book😊

A maid working in a hotel in Vegas gets involved with a gangster. But, he is already promised to another. Sparks fly and they have to figure out how to keep from getting killed by his family. Interesting story and one where love conquers all. Nice romance and excellent characters.

I loved the dynamic between the two star crossed lovers. It was all fire and spice but love overcomes the impossible. Two people so different, from different backgrounds find they make each other whole. I loved their story.

-M/F-no cheating-dual POV-mafia-steamy-HEAI’m giving this one 3 stars because I obviously enjoyed it enough to finish it. I liked Nico. He was definitely the alpha male through and through, but he had a soft spot for his woman. I expected him to be more of an ass to her since this was a mafia book, but he wasn’t, and I’m not complaining. Of course, he was controlling and possessive, but he wasn’t a disgusting pig, thankfully.What I didn’t like:-I wasn’t a huge fan of Sondra. I understand she was meant to be an innocent and sweet woman who enraptured the big bad mafia man, but honestly she came off pretty plain and boring to me. There was nothing special about her that just made me connect with her character/personality. This is my personal opinion, because, like I said, I understand she was meant to be this sweet little innocent thing to contrast the mafia man, she just came off as plain Jane to me.-the fact that she “toddled” and cried so often. Again, I guess this was just supposed to be her nature as an innocent, but Jesus I was over her crying. And how she would “toddle” here and there, it reminded me of a freaking toddler, honestly.-I enjoy insta-lust in books, and even jnsta-love when the book is written well or the trope fits, such as fated mates, but this wasn’t that kind of book. I liked the insta-lust and sexual tension, but other than sex and meeting each other for the first time, this couple never even truly had a full conversation to get to know the other before they were already inner monologuing how much they wanted to be with the other one forever and such. I, personally, would have liked to see more relationship building other than sex. Don’t get me wrong, keep the sex in the book lol but add more relationship building other than just their attraction to each other. I mean, she knew he ran the casino and was in the mafia because that’s knowledge everyone knows, and she knew he was rough and possessive because of one, mafia, and two, because of their sexual interactions. and the things he knew about her was because he did a background check on her, they didn’t spend much time actually learning each other on a deeper level. I think there was two conversations in the whole book that mentioned them getting to know each other and asking the other questions about their life. I just wanted more.Overall, it wasn’t a bad book, and I liked it enough that I’ll more than likely purchase the next book as well, which is Corey’s (Sondras cousin) and Stefano’s (Nicos brother) book. Corey seems a little less of the “innocent and pure” heroine, so I’m really hoping she’s a more interesting main character than Sondra was, which is why I want to read it and find out.

This was really well written and the characters were relatable. It has well thought out and unique spicy scenes drawing you in. I am a sucker for a good happy ending. I couldn’t put it down until the end! Highly recommend !

Reading a Renee Rose book is always an enjoyable way to spend a couple hours and King of Diamonds is no exception! This book is a hot, fast and steamy read. Nico's attempt at distancing himself from his Chicago based mafia family results in him running a casino in Las Vegas. While Nico may be mostly on the up and up his past is not far behind him and there is no true escape from la famiglia. Meanwhile Sondra is attempting to escape her past as well. Her past isn't as sordid as Nico's, but it is only slightly less messy. I enjoyed that Sondra was a bit of a hot mess at the start of this book. She is in the middle of a major transition in her life, but she isn't a woe is me character. She struggles to work through some very real life relationship hangups, ones that we can all relate to. Nico is a dominant male character but I never felt like he was degrading. I enjoyed both characters and I will definitely be reading the next book in the series!

Great story. Heart pounding sex scenes. A glimpse at what a missing piece can do when found. And a flicker of hope for all of us that love the bad boys we know we shouldn't.

Where to even start actually? The book started off really well and then I completely lost interest when he stripped her and she found it hot? The heroine continuously says she's wired the wrong way, which kind of justifies her earlier reaction but still it was violation on his part. The book title says Mafia , but there's not much to that. I found the writing of this book to be kinda Juvenile. I'd try and read the other books though.

This story was ok, not very dark even if there is a bit of domination and spanking stuff. But Nico really cares for Sondra and takes care of her. He is a big softie actually. Sondra is kind of pure. Her heart is always in the right place.I enjoyed reading their story, although there was any real suspense. There is very little interaction between Sondra and Nico's men/ family. We don't feel any danger from either Nico or his brothers. And I was very disappointed with the scene with Sondra, Nico and his older brother and even more with the last scene with Sondra and Nico.I was like " What?! That's it?" The next chapter revolves around another character Alex.That's why I give this book 3 stars. This is the first book I read by this author. But I don't know if I am going to read another one if the ending is also rushed like that.

Extremely enjoyable and well written. I'm looking forward reading the rest of this series and other books by Renee Rose.
