I don't know because it plays like any other scrabble game! This must be a misprint.

The same size I remember from when I was a kid - in the 70s.

Q: How can I purchase extra letters to match this game

I honestly do not know. Right now mine is sitting on a shelf. It is so neat, I really don't want to use it. Sorry I can't do better.
