Life-Altering!!
I've had an AirKnight on my air conditioner here in FLorida for 8 years, and it has been absolutely life-altering! If you have allergies, have a furry pet, cook a lot, don't like germs, this unit is for you. The air in the house smells like a Spring day, everyday! Unfortunately, after 8 years, my unit died, and I just ordered another, but I'll gladly pay the $550 to have my wonderful air back. You might want to have an HVAC install the unit initially, but you can easily change your own bulbs every couple of years, when they go out. I paid $1250 for the unit and installation 8 years ago, which I realize now was a bit steep. If you're handy/skilled, you may be able to install yourself, but in any case, it's worth it! I can't wait to get my new unit! 8 years of service on the first unit, with 2 bulb replacements is pretty good. <3

Overpriced product
Six years later... first one was replaced within a year by hvac contractor, but then Uv lamp burns annually and unit itself breaks every two years. Could not justify it any longer. I would rather buy new iPad or GoPro or hepa filter...

Does smell go away at all...
We had Air Knight installed 2 weeks ago. I am getting ready to start chemo and wanted to have clean air to help fight off viruses and bacteria. The air feels so fresh and clean. We were told the smell, sterile- hydrogen peroxide smell, would be strong for a few day and then decrease. However, the smell has not decreased yet.

Works exceptionally well
Works exceptionally well on air quality and odors. The replacement bulb is pricey though and needs to be replaced, at least, every 2 years. Not certain why people believe it generates ozone. The website states it creates trace ozone that is converted immediately to hydro-peroxides. It is supported by UNderwriters Labs certification for ozone.

It produces ozone which is a lung irritant and worse...
I've had the unit installed in my house for about 3 months; shortly, I am having it removed. It produces ozone which is a lung irritant and worse. You have to run the furnace fan continuously to dissipate the ozone. Your electric bill will increase markedly. I contacted the manufacturer multiple times, asking what amount of ozone does the unit produce. No answer to date. The EPA does not recommend ozone generators as air purifiers.
