2019 Standard Catalog of World Coins, 2001-Date

I have purchased this annual catalog a few times over the past 10 years. This particular volume is large but extremely deficient. I could not find prices for some coins dated 2015 or 2016 IN A 2019 EDITION catalog. Huge waste of money.Caveat emptor!!!!!

19 years into the 21st century this volume is now the same thickness as each of the the full 17th-20th century volumes. But I'm disappointed. In some instances there is a picture of a low denomination coin. Then for succeeding higher denominations, instead of more pictures, only short descriptions of the obverse & reverse. In others there is a picture of a main type and a few years down the column, a different KM number and a description (no picture) of a variety, or completely new type. Some listings end in 2010 or 2011 when I have a 2018 coin in-hand. And other types are missing entirely; a 1-2-10-25 listed but no 5 when I'm holding an actual example. Given the publisher's ownership change, I hope they survive to restore their former quality for future editions.

Isle of Man crowns from 2015 and 2016 still not listed? What's the point in issuing a catalog every year if you don't keep it up to date. The editors no longer seem interested in providing mintages either.

Most countries are only up to date for coins struck before 2014. Only a few major countries are more up to date.I was disappointed in the contents. For example, Zambia 2015, 1000-KWACHA coins are not in this catalog.

Identifying foreign coins

liked the ease of using. Helps keep ,my collection in order.

This animal is good for pointing out many coins that may be missed in the smaller magazines and at trade shows. However, it is a catalog, about the size of a phone book, and with so few advertisers that they are negligible.There are no fancy color pictures just coins and lots of them divided into countries; so many coins that it can make your head spin if you are not searching for a particular theme. The shallow part of the book is the depth of time.This version contains the Euro and it may not be ancient coins or Notgeld but the designs are innovative and affordable. Collect them now while they are at face value. In the years to come, they will be of value and sentimental value to your offspring.I know the book is a tad expensive but it is worth adding to the collection or catalogs on earlier eras. Good source of information and prices on old coins but many recent issue coins I have are not listed up to 2019

it's the same size book for 19 years as the others that cover 100 years !My only criticism would be it says 2019 on the front but most countries don’t go past 2015/16 !
