Received it in unprotected packaging

the quality was good other then some glue sharp right out of the box its size is as described slightly on the heavy side and box was a little damaged but no damage to the sword its fits the hand well

Excellent quality for the price . It makes a nice clean cut.

For the money...I was initially surprised. I have a few higher end swords. I bought this to strip the fittings to make my wak match my Hanwei. It was pegged. When trying to dismantle it, I expected epoxy at this price but did not expect a threaded rat tail tang!

I really enjoyed this product since I received it. This is my first Makoto brand katana, and I wanted to see what their lower priced katanas had to offer. I really like the aesthetic of the tsuba and kashira. The menuki on the tsuba was a nice touch as well. The blade itself has a laser-etched hamon, which I don't mind as it looks nice for what I paid for ($50). The koiguchi of the saya was cracked when I received this product, but a little wood glue and sawdust mended it. It's still a nice addition to my collection, but I wouldn't been a little more miffed if I had cared more about the saya (for example, if I had went with a more ornamental piece such as this one: https://www.amazon.com/Makoto-Forged-Razor-Samurai-Katana/dp/B074FBWNX2 ).

Don’t buy it rat tail tang, have to admit read another review that mentioned the rat tail, I’ll keep the blade, Handle bad wrap was poor KEEP AWAY.I have to admit, This is the cheapo zone but I have had good luck Amazon. This is the first real bad one. Blade fair and tang soft did chop up 1-1/2 ash limb had bending of the blade . Did keel the edge. I did get Ten Ryu blade so go figure
