RokinonAF 24mm f/2.8 Wide Angle Auto Focus Lens for Sony E-Mount, Black (IO24AF-E)

Let start off saying this lens is light!!! When I first received the mail box my initial thoughts were “I got scammed” thinking that the box was empty. Thankfully that wasn’t the case. I already own the Rokinon 35mm 1.4 and the 50mm 1.4 this little guy has the best AF performance among them. I’m really impressed how much better Rokinon has gotten in that area.ProsLightweightFast and completely silent AFSuper compactAlready sharp at the center at 2.8 and excellent across the frame from f4 and aboveConsVignette at 2.8Lens hood is kind of uselessPlastic construction (maybe)Price (I think $350 should be great)

Unfortunately, this Rokinon 24mm F2.8 Lens that I received has Very Low Image Quality. I tested this Lens with 2 of my Sony Cameras the A7m3 and the A7Rm3 - 200 Shots Each in varing conditions. Here are my results when reviewing the resulting photos.First I will go over the Good Points From this Lens=1) Small and light weight, plasticy feel however build quality seems good ( It is as small as the APS-C Sony 16-50 PZ Lens when it is closed )2) It is Very Affordable - ( Less than 200.00 USD )3)Autofocus was acceptable and quick while being mostly silent4)Contrast and Colors were good with sufficient lightingThats where the good ends, Now for the Bad-1)The Resulting Photos are Never Sharp Across the Frame with my copy and stopping down to f8 or more seems to only darken the photo, not increase sharpness much.2)Surprisingly, when you turn this lens towards Any Strong light source, the photo just darkens across the frame.3)Purple Fringing - in any Highlight or Backlight area of any resulting Photo ( EX= like any Trees against Sky )4)Confusingly - the Resulting photos have ( what I thought was Vignetteing-however After reviewing the photos on a computer I realized it was not Vingetteing ) however I will try to explain what I think it is and attach some crops from the corners of the resulting photos.All corners of almost every one of the 400 shots that I took with both cameras exhibit , ( in what I can only describe ) as Muddy, Splotchy, Defocused, Low Resolution areas of the photos ( Particularly in the Shadows ( and my copy has shadows in almost every photo Around the entire Frame )- Like the Image Circle Of the Lens IS TOO SMALL FOR FULL FRAME. Thats the only thing that I can come up with, just maybe my copy is not able to fill the entire Frame with Light. It is very confusing in that I have Not Seen this with any other lens, and it did not matter if I had lens corrections On or Off in the Menu with either camera, All of the Photos I shot Have this weird Issue. See the Attached Crops for Yourself.In the end since ONLY the Center Portion of each frame was useable, ( due to this weird issue ) I decided to return this lens to Amazon and they Refunded the Cost.

I needed a quick fix for a lens for my A7Rii with a wider range. The range is just fine, but the lens only half works. I have to have minimum f stop for it to focus. Once I crank it up - the lens actually starts to make a howling noise (yes, a howling noise) and the focus is just NOT there. The photos looks very... digital. Very pixilated. I contacted customer support but the options they gave me were not fitting. I am taking the loss on this lens and unfortunately, I will not be purchasing any Samyang nor Rokinon (they are the exact same for those who did not know) products in future. I get that it's only a $200 lens, but I still expect it to at least work and do what they say it will. :( So disappointed.

Great all around lens for walking around and landscape photos. Very underrated. I’ve also found use for this lens with videography!

So far I have used this lens for a few days and it seems to do a great job taking photos. The one annoyance that I have is sometimes my a7c does not recognize the lens and I have to repeatedly take the lens off and reattach it to get the camera to recognize it (this can take 3-4 tries).Other than that a pretty decent lens for the money.

This is a great little lens for the A7iii. Bought it based on the good reviews and I’m really glad I did. IQ is solid and AF is quick. Just got back from a vacation - I took this and the Tamron 28-75. Ended up shooting 90% of the trip with this 24. Not as good for video, but not all that bad, really. Glad I bought it!

I paired this with a Sony A7iii and I have no complaints. The lens is super light so it might feel cheap but the pictures it takes are great and it keeps my rig compact and discrete

The delivery guy had thrown the lens over a fence and didn't even consider to make a call on the day of delivery. At first I didn't notice any problems with lens, auto-focus did work well, so I thought there was no damage due to brutal delivery. Only after a couple weeks I had realized there's something wrong with the focal plane. I noticed the lens axis is tilted. On attached picture, you can see lens trees on the left side are in focus, but at the same time trees on the right side are not. The lens are absolutely useless when diaphragm wide open, the only way to use it is by using f/8 and smaller aperture. It's terrible experience and I'm very disappointed.

El lente tiene una buena calidad de imagen y es rápido al enfocar pero tenía problemas tanto en el enfoque automático como con el enfoque manual. Había momentos en los que al tener enfoque automático activado simplemente no enfocaba el lente y al activar el enfoque manual podía girar la rueda de enfoque por un rato y nunca lograr el enfoque. Tuve el lente por alrededor de 3 horas en uso y este problema sucedió en 5 ocasiones, para arreglarlo apagaba la cámara y la volvía encender y ya funcionaba. Decidí devolverlo y comprar un lente de Sony nativo por el doble de precio pero con una calidad superior en todo ámbito que fue la mejor decisión que pude tomar.

Este lente fue un algo inesperado, lo compré siendo el lente más económico para full-frame que encontré y me dejó sorprendido. Si no tienes inconveniente con el viñeteo que tiene es un lente rápido excelente para hacer street photography. El enfoque es preciso, la construcción de plástico pero no de tan mala calidad para su costo (a mi parecer). En video responde muy bien incluso más rápido que algunos lentes nativos de Sony.Sobre todo es pequeño y ligero, que cuando lo combino con una A7C hacen la combinación perfecta para escabullirme por donde quiera sin llamar mucho la atención.Sumamente recomendado!

El lente no me lo reconoció la cámara, debió ser un fallo específico de este objetivo, ya que tengo otro lente de esta misma marca y me funciona perfecto. Hice devolución y estoy en espera de reembolso para hacer la compra nuevamente y espero me envíen otro. Lo probé en la a7 y la a7ii en ambas me hizo lo mismo.

this was a warehouse item, it had firmware v1 on it, i am sure thats why it was retrned, i updated it to v4 and she works great on my a73, super small autofocus is silent and fast, i have a few samyang.rokonon af for the sony and i luv them all, this is a great walk around lens, it focuses very close not a macro but still very close, great lens if u get one on sale

El lente si viñeta notablemente, la sensación del plástico también es evidente. Sin embargo es super portable, no pesa prácticamente nada y te da grandes resultados. Lo mejor es el precio.
