Super durability and a nice storage box so that the blade does not go dull in between uses. I like the fact that you can both have a curved or a straight option for the razor blade when scoring the bread. Easy to clean and storage is a breeze. Handle size is excellent and very sturdy. Also very safe to put on the razor blades carefully. Would buy again if needed… I already purchased a year ago and then purchased this one as an extra gift for a family member. Price could be a little better.....

I love this lame it’s super sharp but safe to use. It doesn’t come loose at all like the other cheap ones. It’s heavy in the handle which I love. Easy to clean too. You can tell it’s high quality when you hold it. I’ve purchased two others on Amazon where you change out the blade and they fall out and I HATE them! This one is great.

I've been baking bread for 40+ years. During the last 10 years, I have started baking a variety of French and Italian bread varieties. When I started, I used a single edge razor blade to score the loaves. I then decided that an Exacto knife with a sheath was a safer alternative, and better for in-drawer storage. Ultimately, I decided to buy this lame. It was highly rated, had the option to curve the blade or have it straight, is comfortable to use, and blade replacement is easy. It's a solid product. However, it is not without its deficiencies, and perhaps these deficiencies are amplified by the types of breads that I bake. I push the hydration of my doughs. This lame produces a quite shallow cut, and these tend to close before you can get the loaf into a Dutch oven and into the oven. For the breads that I bake, quite often I get better results using an Exacto knife. I do sharpen the blade on a series of whetstones, and then run it up and down a steel. It keeps the blade extremely sharp, and it gets me a few extra mm in depth of cut. If you are making baguettes and batards, this lame is probably a good choice. For the loaves that I make, and the elaborate scoring that do on some, it's fine, but I prefer an Exacto knife. An Exacto knife will set you back $4-$6. You can decide whether it would work for you. We looked at several lame options before deciding on this one . It has maintained its sharpness for months without needing to change the blade. It washes easy. It comes with a sturdy case so there’s no risk of getting cut when stored, keeping your fingers safe.

This lame is very sturdy. It has a solid, evenly weighted (ergonomic) feel when you hold it. The lame comes in a safety case, where it is nestled in a foam bed. The case has a sleeve style sliding lid. It can't possibly fall out, even if you drop the case. The whole case is then placed in a simple cardboard box with the manufacturer's name on the cover. I keep it right near where I do most of my bread scoring. I love that it also comes with a supply of blades to replace the one that is already affixed to it. It is attached by screw at the central point, with two bumps to align with the holes in the flat surface of the blade, for stability. It is easy to rotate the blade to expose the opposite corners' edges. You simply curve the opposing corners upwards, creating a U shape, then rotate it and let it go back to its former position, only having been turned 180 degrees. The lame is well worth its cost. You're not just buying a lame. You're buying a scoring system. As long as single edge razor blades are made, this lame will hold up to the rigors of artisan bread scoring!

For being one of the more expensive lames, I would think it could come with a better storage box. This is by far the worse storage case of any product. It would appear that it slides closed but the top just sits on top. If it’s in the drawer being knocked around, the lid doesn’t even stay on. The lame itself is fine but I got this for the lame and the storage and the storage box it terrible. The size of the lame and sharpness are all fine.

This is an excellent bread lame. After I got this, I tossed the other blade holders. Buy with confidence, this works better than any alternative I have found.

Like many, I joined the homemade sourdough craze during lockdown, and this bread lame became an essential tool. It works really well for scoring dough, and I love the case it comes with—it keeps the blade safe and sharp, and I can store it in my utensil drawer without worrying about cuts.

Love the fact that is stainless steal, jave a box, nice weight when you work with. Can put the blade straith or curve. LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT! You need that!
