Q: Can you, or why can’t you just use your existing bike cassette ? Why do you have to buy another and another skewer?

You can definitely take the cassette off of your normal wheel and mount it on the trainer. It is just recommended to get a second cassette so that you do not need to deal with the hassle of that anytime you want to take the bike off of the trainer and ride it outside.
