This does exactly what I need it to do for resin casting but I have concerns about the pump. The first few times I used this the pump was able to pull the vacuum to -1 to pull the air out of the resin that I use. It pulled the vacuum quickly and the pump was very quiet. Though after the first few times I have noticed it takes longer to pull the same vacuum and have noticed some "smoke" from the pump, though it may also be the pump oil getting hot. The pump still works and does what it needs to do for the resin work I do. I just have to keep an eye on it and I have a laser temp reader that I keep an eye on the pump temp when it pulls a -1 vacuum. So time will tell if the pump keeps working and this is the oil getting hot and venting, or if it is the pump itself having issues. I may try a high end vacuum pump oil and see if this helps resolve my concerns and the "smoke" that I see.

This product works if you need small things done but if you want a long lasting vacuum pump I don't think this is the best product. The customer service is great, they sent replacements when I needed them, but unfortunately, I have had to request parts several times. The vacuum works well to degas silicone but releases a vapor when it's on. When I opened the box to begin using it, it was missing a threader to connect the hose from the pump to the chamber. So I had to request it and wait another month for the part to come. Another odd thing is that no matter how much I fill the oil in the vacuum, the level never changes below the minimum line, so I never know when I run out of oil. The regulator on the chamber stopped working too after a couple of months of using it and I requested a replacement which they kindly sent. However, when I went to change it out, I couldn't get the other regulator off and when I looked closely I saw that it was glued shut to the whole system. So I will need to request an entirely new top. Overall, I would recommend spending more money on a higher quality vacuum if you want to avoid the back and forth. If not, it works fine!

Every time I use it it's a fight. Sometimes I have to deal with oil leaking inside the pot. Since I use this for mold making I have pray that none of it gets in the silicone. And then I also have to fight with getting a seal. I always make sure it's clean. Sometimes it sucks the rubber ring off the lid. I now have to hold the lid down until it reaches a certain point or it leaks. It's very frustrating.
