what is the aproximate amount of time needed for this repair?

I couldn't open my roof so getting the headliner off was quite a bit of a project and getting the center ring out takes a little bit of work I would say around 2 hours

Does this fit a 2004 sl500

Absolutely YES!, I reeplaced the ring by myself, you don't have to remove the part, just unlock the metal-rings. Inside the cylinder are two rober-washers, reeplace the big one!, (square angles), not the small one, slide the washer all the way and it will stretch up until gets to the proper position. It works perfect!.

What size is the O ring?

I don’t know the size but it fit perfect for my roof cylinder that is in the middle Of the convertible roof closest to the windshield

is this kit for one or both top lock cylinders?

The R230 only has one (1) top lock cylinder in the center. Where the roof meets the windscreen.
