I thought I was buying the older model with no timer. This model has a switch that you hold down but will automatically turn off after about 20 minutes. The material the cover is made of is also different, I wish I hadn’t tossed the cover to my old one. This heating pad is weighted, which helps it conform to whatever part of your body you lay it on. It also gets very hot, which is a plus for most people, but those with delicate skin will want to be cautious when using. I’ve been using Thermophore heating pads for close to fifteen years and while it’s still the best I’ve found, I wish that changes hadn’t been made.

THIS IS ONE OF THE POTENTIAL BEST HEATING PADS THAT I HAVE EVER USED. I WAS WHIMPERING WITH PLEASURE AS THE INTENSE HEAT INFUSED MY BODY WHEN I FIRST STARTED USING IT. I USED IT ABOUT A WEEK AFTER I BOUGHT IT AND IT WAS NOT HEATING UP AS QUICKLY ONE DAY AND WHEN IT DID IT SLOWED DOWN AFTER A LITTLE BIT AND IT WAS JUST REALLY WARM. WTF????? I BOUGHT FOUR OF THESE. IT IS THE BEST TO USE AFTER HIKING FOR MILES IN THE WILDERNESS. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO HAVE FIXED ITSELF DAYS AFTERWARDS..... I'M COMPARING THE HEATING PAD SIZES I BOUGHT TO SEE WHICH ONES GENERATE HEAT FASTER AND RETAIN IT FOR AS LONG AS MY FINGER IS ON THE BUTTON. SO FAR, THE MEDIUM SIZE HEATS UP FASTER AND IT'S PRACTICALLY SCALDING. "YUMM" I USE THAT ONE ON UNDER MY LEGS AND IT'S LIKE A SPA TREATMENT ON MY WORN OUT LEGS. IT FEELS SO GOOD. I USE THE LARGE ONES FOR MY NECK AND BACK. THE LARGE ONES SEEM TO TAKE A BIT LONGER TO HEAT UP AS CAN BE EXPECTED AND SLOWLY BUILD UP TO AN INTENSE HEAT. SO DELICIOUS WHAT THE HEAT DOES.MY ONLY LEFTOVER ISSUE IS WITH THE SELLER. I SENT THEM AN EMAIL VIA AMAZON REQUESTING RETURN INFO, AND NEVER GOT A RESPONSE BACK ABOUT RETURNING SOME HEATING PADS I BOUGHT THAT I BOUGHT TOO MANY OF. I HAD TO FILE A CLAIM AND FINALLY I GOT A RESPONSE BACK. MAYBE THEY WERE BUSY, BUT IT WAS IRRITATING. I DECIDED TO KEEP ALL OF THE HEATING PADS I BOUGHT IN THE END. IF YOU DO RETURN THE HEATING PADS, THEY NEED TO BE ""NOT USED"" AND DEPENDING WHAT KIND OF USE IT LOOKS LIKE YOU GOT OUT OF IT, THEY STATE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WILL BE CHARGED A RESTOCKING FEE. JUST A THOUGHT.THESE ARE POTENTIALLY ONE OF THE BEST HEATING PADS. THE BUTTON YOU PRESS IS A GOOD IDEA BECAUSE IT DOES GET PRETTY SCALDING. YOU DON'T WANT TO FORGET AND LEAVE THIS ON SOMEWHERE. ONE OF THE THINGS IT COULD DO IS MAKE HEAT MARKS ONTO FURNITURE. I KNOW THAT FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. I HAD MY LEGS ON IT, AND THE WIRES MADE WIRE MARKS ONTO SOME FABRIC FURNITURE. THE MARKS DON'T COME OUT FROM WHAT I CAN SEE. I USE THIS ON MY BED ON TOP OF MY THICK COMFORTER USUALLY.I WOULD BUY THIS HEATING PAD AGAIN. IN COMPARISON TO A SPA TREATMENT, YOU GET EQUIVALENT RELAXATION THERAPY IN MY OPINION WELL WORTH WHAT YOU PAY FOR IT. ALTHOUGH I REALLY HOPE THAT IT HOLDS OUT FOR AT LEAST A YEAR, OTHERWISE I MIGHT NOT BUY IT AGAIN......

Wife has been using these for over 20 years & prefers the one with the "dead-man" switch. Thought I had finally found a seller who had one until I received today and it's the newer model with the 3 button switch.

Very nice quality. Make sure and read the differences between all of the different models. Very pleased. Wish this was the one I wouldn’t purchased the first time.

I love the heat on my back. I have the larger heating pad for home and I use this for travel. Just wish it were a little longer.

I love this product because it's the best at making the product as hot as you want it; however, you do need to hold it down yourself. Don't get in a situation where you lay something on the button to keep it down because you can get a 2nd degree burn this thing is so hot. They were smart to make the button the way they did. The area almost immediately gets moist, pulling moisture from the atmosphere, your back, neck, anywhere you have it. My dog chewed up my last one (the plug) so when I feel down the stairs a month ago, it was awful. I had to settle for something from the drug store (Sunbeam) that was little but plastic, with a (not kidding you) see thru cover that couldn't have weighed an ounce. Useless. After putting a pillowcase over it, it was still uncomfortable until the plastic became flexible. I looked online again and found someone whose delivery date was about 2 weeks and I bought it. OMG!!!!! It came in 2 days!!!!! I cried I was so happy. My last Thermaphore was a good 15 years old, and God willing, and I can keep it away from my dog (she's not a puppy anymore) it will last another 15-20 years. Thank you Thermaphore!

Para que caliente, hay que mantener apretado un botoncito para que suba la temperatura y luego soltarlo para que deje de calentar, es decir, no tiene un mando donde puedas configurar la resistencia y/o intensidad deseada. Fuera de eso es cómoda y calienta bastante bien, práctica y fácil de guardar.

Genial, justo lo que necesitaba para las terapias a mis pacientes.

Es un producto excelente, solamente que lo que no me gusta es que se tiene que mantener presionado el interruptor para mantener la intensidad del calor, me hubiera gustado que fuera un termostato automático con mayor facilidad para mantener la temperatura
