I badly wanted to love these, as they were exactly what I was looking for in a Bluetooth iem module. But sadly as many other reviewers have said in various places around the net, STAY AWAY from them. They are either being plagued by poor battery chemistry (supplier) or there's bugs in the charging firmware. ### ⭐⭐⭐ big and heavy case but barely fits some IEMs

The magnetic charging of the case is a GREAT feature compared to typical charging cases that fail often. But charging cases are terrible for portability because they are basically just powerbanks nobody actually needs since they have phones and other power sources available. The case just takes up a lot of weight and space in a bag and it's just another battery to die eventually. There should be a way to charge the earhooks directly with a usb cable. This problem applies to almost all devices like this. This Fiio unit is clearly the only game in town for bluetooth IEM earhooks. The app is very good and the build/hardware of the earhooks is great. It does actually work pretty great. It has volume control on the earhook buttons, which some bluetooth earhooks from KZ, Moondrop, etc do not have and I consider that a serious dealbreaker. The case is the real problem for a few reasons. It's big but there's a lot of dead space inside. The biggest issue is that it's too shallow for some IEMs. I have several IEMs and some of them don't even fit inside the case. Depending on the size of your eartips some IEMs won't fit. I've been using this with Decet IEMs with foam eartips and the case lid just barely fails to close all the way when the eartips are new but after they shrink a tiny bit from use the lid closes fine. It's crazy that the tolerance is so low for different sizes of IEMs and eartips. It really just doesn't work at all with some models and it's gonna be hard to find out in advance if your IEMs fit unless you happen to find someone online giving that info for a particular model. And of course it's impossible to use this with custom eartips like Eartune. You'd had to take the eartips and and off every single use to put the IEMs back in the case. That's the biggest reason why the charging case design is terrible. The optimal design for bluetooth earhooks would allow the user to put everything in any case, customizing the size/style/materials to their individual taste/gear--and charge the earhooks directly via cables. There was a halfway good solution to this problem from Moondrop a couple years ago I think, where the charging case was a modular 2 part system. This product category really needs a major design overhaul in terms of case/charging. It's still a very usable product with some great points in its favor and I'm a fan of Fiio's quality and innovation in general. I have actually decided to abandon this earhook approach and use their BTR11/13/15 dongles worn as a pendant instead. It's a tradeoff but it allows me to use custom IEMs conveniently.
