Jenny Saville

This is a top-quality art book, with great reproduction of many (most?) of Jenny Saville's wonderful paintings and many additional drawings - often studies for paintings. The illustrations are mostly full-page or double page, so details are easy to appreciate. The book is mainly about the plates - there are three short introductory text sections, and after that the pictures do the talking. While the full RRP (£115) is probably a bit steep, the £70 I paid is really quite reasonable for a book of this size and quality.A word of caution though - the book contains many (small) images that acted as source material for the works, and for photographer Sally Mann. Along with old master artworks, these images include victims of murder, rape, torture and genocide, severed body parts, pathology photos etc. Most people won't want to linger over these for long - me included. The inclusion of these images is justified for the context they provide (it's not a book of nursery rhymes, after all), but worth being aware of before hitting the button.

This book is so giant with lots of close ups. You can see the physicality of the paint which is quite rare. Massive historic range of her wrk starting when she was at college. So some lovely photos & a nice collection of her references over double pages.This is a real insight into Jenny Saville. Worth every penny. If you’re debating whether to get it. Just get it!

Bought to augment study in a fine art degree. This has been invaluable, looking at the technique of someone who makes art which has the impact I hope mine will when I’ve finished studying.This is large and heavy and has a protective outer it slides into to protect it. There is an interesting interview (also available online), explanations of Saville’s process and pages of excellent plates that show the changes in her subject through the years. I don’t regret paying £78 to keep this.

I am a painter, I am a super book keeper, this is the best painting book I bought ever, and I am so honoured that I am same school graduate student with Jenny Saville!!!

Despite the high price, this is a value for money book if you are a fan of Jenny Saville or contemporary figurative art. The interviews and essays provide more insight into the artist and her process.

Absolutely stunning book , comes in a beautiful jar back protective sleeve , will cherish this forever

This is such a luxurious book of Jenny's work. There's work from across her career, including new drawings which are as beautiful and powerful as her paintings.

Excelente compra, llegó en tiempo y sin ningún maltrato el paquete.Ahora bien del libro, es una obra de arte, un most en la biblioteca de alguien que aprecia la pintura y el arte. El formato es increíble, se aprecian los detalles de las fotos. Puede parecer un poco alta su precio pero creo que la artista lo vale!
