Upgrade your game
I’d always used the closed type of plug before, needing to get the length of the fettled cable exactly right each time. Of course, after doing hundreds you get pretty good at it, but using the pass through plugs just speeds up your game and I feel you get more consistent results. You just need to invest in a specific tool (Perfectly acceptable ones for the non-professional can be had for $30) to auto trim the wire on installation and get the most out of them.
