CRKT Rakkassan Fixed Blade Knife with Sheath: Powder Coated SK5 Steel, Contoured G10 Handle, Boltaron Sheath with Paracord 1520

Love this knife. I purchased it because I served with the Rakkasan Brigade from 2010-2012 and I wanted to support CRKTs Forged from War program. The knife exceeded my expectations. The handle is comfortable, well designed, and well balanced. The blade comes extremely sharp and I was able to touch it up very quickly to "light saber sharp". The kydex sheath is simple, lightweight, and retains the blade extremely well without hindering draw/sheathing. My only critique is that I would rather see the tip of the blade end in more of straight bowie style rather the slight upsweep that it currently has. Great work from CRKT and McGlaun Design. Rakkasan!

Amazingly comfortable. Some knives look good but feel off, this is not the case here. Very well made with the full tang folded into the handle very well. Zero complaints.

Perfect mid-size knife. I like the paracord on the Kydex sheath. I just wish it came with a single mole attachment device as well.

This is truly a rad knife. Balanced and extremely sharp.

I purchased this for my son which is currently a Rakkasan. He loves it. It hasn’t been field tested so the jury is still out.

Its OK, but I plan to return it due to personal preference on the overall feel. The fit and finish is pretty good, well balanced, coating is slick and came sharp. My issue is with the width of the blade vs the rather skinny grip. The grip has a good length, but the way the shape and scale combo, it didn't inspire a whole lot of control. But thats purely different from person to person. I wanted to like it, but..

Antes de haberme decidido a comprar este Rakkasan de CRKT vi muchas reseñas y hasta un Turture Test donde se lo acaban a tiros con una 9mm.Con todo y eso le di click convencido de que es una buena pieza,.Sin embargo cuando por fin llego y lo tuve en mis manos , debo decir que , lo encuentro muy ligero y con una hoja delgada.Eso sí , es muy maniobrable y de buenos acabados, el acero es un SK5 el cual viene con muy buen filo.La funda de Kydex esta bien hecha y sujeta bien el cuchillo.El punto negativo es el sistema de paracord como unica opción para portarlo en el cinturon.Le doy 4 estrellas.

I like the overall design of this knife. I had it for over 3 months now and have grown to like this knife. However, I got a little careless with its use of the tip and I would say about a millimetre or two worth of the tip broke off. I find it unfortunate that CRKT warranty does not cover this as I like this knife a lot. So if you are thinking of using this as some kind of survival/combat knife; watch the tip or avoid this knife altogether if prying is what you want to do.Update:I ended buying another one after turning my first one into a trainer. I believe the first one I have is a dud because I noticed the overall feel and build of my second one is entirely different compared to the first one I bought; also noticed the tip is slightly thicker than the previous one I got. I'm still a little wary of the tip, but I I can't say enough just how well designed this knife is and I hope that the first one I got is a defect and that this knife is durable enough for what it is designed to do.

Vorab, als feststehendes Messer mit einer Klingenlänge über 12cm fällt das Rakkasan unter die Führbeschränkungen des §42A WaffGAnfänglich wollte ich das Messer gar nicht kaufen, der Griff sah einfach zu unbequem aus.Zu meiner Überraschung sieht er allerdings nur so aus, er liegt tatsächlich sehr gut in meiner Hand, ob mit oder ohne Handschuh.Mir gefällt auch die „Überlänge“ des Griffs.Die Klinge ist nicht übertrieben dick, definitiv keine Brechstange. Wer sie nicht als solche verwendet, wird definitiv keine Probleme haben.Was mich das erste Exemplar zurückschicken ließ, war der Klingenschliff bzw. das Fehlen eines solchen auf der hinteren Hälfte der Klinge. Die vordere Hälfte war so, wie sie sein sollte, sehr gut geschärft.Etwas überraschend auch, dass die Klinge verkehrt herum in der Scheide saß, möglicherweise die Ursache für den anschließend lockeren Sitz darin. Die Klinge klapperte gut hörbar in der Scheide.Was mir gefällt sind die drei Hohlnieten, die den Griff fixieren, sie lassen sich gut für die persönlich bevorzugte Lanyardbefestigung nutzen.Für dieses Messer hätte ich 3 Sterne gegeben.In dieser Preisklasse erwarte ich eine ordentlich (und vor allem komplett) geschliffene Klinge und will nicht erst selbst schleifen.Das zweite Exemplar war dann einwandfrei, sehr gut geschliffen, die Kydexscheide fast passgenau, die Klinge hat minimal Spiel darin.Die Kydexscheiden von Real Steel sind hier etwas besser (zumindest die der Messer, die ich besitze).Folgende Dinge führen in der Summe zur Abwertung auf „nur“ vier Sterne:Das Kydex hat einige unansehnliche „Pickel“ (bei der schlechter passenden Scheide war dies nicht der Fall) und dass Material kommt mir etwas dünn vor. Ich erwarte jetzt nicht, dass es gleich bricht, aber etwas mehr Material wäre mir lieber gewesen. Die erste Kydexscheide mit einer solchen verringerter Materialstärke, die mir untergekommen ist.Ferner sitzt das Messer nicht so fest in der Scheide, wie ich es von anderen Marken kenne und bevorzuge.Ich würde nicht auf die Idee kommen es Tip Up an Weste, Rucksackriemen oder anderer Ausrüstung zu befestigen.Zwei Dinge, die ich mir gewünscht hätte (da diese aber vor dem Kauf bekannt waren, werte ich sie nicht negativ):Ein TekLock wäre schön gewesen, gerne auch gegen einen kleinen Aufpreis.Ich weiß, dass viele Leute es nicht mögen, weil es (natürlich) etwas aufträgt. Mir ist das egal, der Mehrwert durch die schnellere Befestigung an Koppel, Gurten etc. wiegt für mich diesen kleinen Nachteil auf.Statt der Hohlnieten hätte ich mit eine Verschraubung der Griffschalen gewünscht, die das Reinigen erleichtert. Im Neuzustand wird wohl kein Schmutz unter die Schalen gelangen, nach längerer intensiver Nutzung meiner Erfahrung nach letztendlich schon.

Great knife. CRKT is the brand I trust the most knife wise.Sharp Edge and retains it very well. I'm military (Combat engineer) and have been using it daylie since receiving it couple weeks ago. Cut anything that comes at it. It also looks great, definitely make heads turn.The handle holds very well in the hand, much comfortable. The knife is more balanced than it looks.The tip of the blade took a little shot but it is still holding nicely.The kydex sheath is great but the cord to attach on the belt is very bad. It broke on the first day getting stuck with my tac vest. I did a proper one with real paracord and it is now perfect.I recomand it.
