Very poor quality. 2 simply fell apart in about a month.
Very disappointing. After specifically searching for NON made-in-china junk I selected these because they claim "Made in USA".I thought I was set for life with these but the first one fell apart within a month, actually in pieces in my pocket. My key sets are simple: 2 on one side, 2 on the other. Basically very minimal load. The second one I found the inner shaft had bent preventing it from being disengaged. When I straightened it out it broke and fell out along with the two retaining balls.Unbelievable.After having my prior "Made in China" (stamped right on it) hardware store version last literally a decade this was a huge disappointment.Also...the machining tolerances on these are TOO TIGHT meaning it is actually a chore to make the two pieces reliably engage and lock. You have to really make sure it's really bottomed out and locked otherwise they pop right apart even though they look correct and engaged. I actually noticed this right out of the box and that alone pissed me off. Then they started falling apart. Ridiculous that "USA" can't make such a simple item and proof of the "Made in USA" automatically equals quality myth.

Stays Secure Until Released - Well Priced
After having broken two reel latch rings in a week, I decided to try this key holder for my office key. It's the right size, reasonably priced, and fairly easy to release.Because I have the key ring secured to the outside of my purse and need to release the key to open my office door with one hand every day, I had to put the key on narrow end. That way, I can depress the little grip like a hypodermic needle and pull the ring out of it's holder. I may be educated but that was not immediately intuitive to me.I think the Cosmos ® (C) Heavy Duty retractable Reel with Belt Clip, Belt Loop Clasp & Key Ring for Key/ID Badge/Nurse + Cosmos Cable Tie is still a better option for my office key (just pull, use, and let go) but this ring will work fine for my car key which has to be easily removeable because we frequently swap vehicles in our family (little car, big car, truck).

Great, American Company!
These guys are the ones who invented that "key-ring on a chain" that is iconic of school janitors. Though this particular product is not made in America, most of their products are and are designed by them. However, I know these folks must have a decent QC regiment, because key-rings, retractable key systems are what they do, period. Most of their stuff is patented here in the USA.I have bought other quick release key chains, and they have fallen apart, literally, i.e. when you push that little lever to separate/join the two key rings, there is a spring and ball-bearings involved. Cheap means the ball bearings fall out/spring fails, whatever.Yes these are a little more money. But Grandpa always said, "you get what you pay for" -- own three of these so far, and I seek them out because of the company's reputation, and will buy more as I need.I specifically recommend this company to friends and family. Oh, by the way, I am a computer center manager, and I am not worried about losing my keys, at least not do to a faulty key ring -- if I did, I would lose "keys to my company's digital kingdom"Amazon Prime member, so always Jeff Bezos delivers! (oh and the free videos are icing on the cake!!)

Nice Product but rings could be larger
The pull apart action on this keychain works quite well as it only releases when you want it to. The reason I withhold one star is that I wish the key rings were a little larger. In this day and age a person tends to have a few keys that have a thick plastic portion where the ring threads through. The rings are small enough on this keychain that the keys end up splayed out at angles instead of lying flat against each other. I've tried replacing the rings with larger ones that I purchased separately, but that's trick as well. Many of the key rings out there are thicker in diameter than the holes that are drilled in the separating mechanism. Either a person has to specifically find a thin-style key ring that can thread through the hole or I suppose somebody could drill the holes larger.

Good way to keep extraneous weight off of ignition
These serve the function of keeping weight off the ignition by putting only the car key and the door-opening fob on one end and all other keys and store tags on the other end. Key ring on end with other keys had to be replaced with a larger key ring because ring that came with key holder was too small. Device is a bit hard to take apart, requires both hands to be empty and doing nothing else. One I got the hang of separating the two parts it became habit; although not much easier. I toss the part with other keys into a side pocket of my purse and drive with only the car key and the fob hanging from the ignition.

the keychain for super heroes
In the age of biometrics, google glasses, facial recognition and NSA reading our emails I find it unbelievable that people still need keys. However if you are anything like me (handsome, charming, philanthropic billionaire often mistaken for Christian Bale) you probably also share a lesser known Christian Bale like attribute that I have- your own secret bat cave and bat mobile that have keys that you need quick access to. Now I am not saying I am Batman, I am just implying that if you are batman you need the "KEY-BAK #500 Premium Quick Release, Pull Apart Key" in case you need to make a quick getaway. The #250 and #300 did not provide the kind of speed and agility that the #500 offers and if you are anything like me you will appreciate how quickly you can detach the keys to your bat cave from the keys to your bat mobile. Don't let the Joker get between you and Rachel. Let "KEY-BAK #500 Premium Quick Release, Pull Apart Key" be your friend!

Works as described
I debated very long on which pull apart key ring to order and decided on this one mainly because my parents have used this same style. The key ring is made out of steel and seems to be of pretty good quality. There is a small amount of play in the connector but this isn't really a problem. The only problem I have with the ring is that my key and gas keychain can get stuck inside one another. This can be a pain when trying to use a key and untangle it. Overall it works as described. I would maybe try a different style in the future if this one eventually breaks.

Good key chain!
Good key chain. Pretty standard design on each end but the middle is magic. I hate carrying my car keys everyday and my house keys when I'm not driving and this helps me just snap the car keys right off. Much lighter pockets and I don't have to keep pulling one side of my pants up every 5 minutes. Come to think of it, I should go look for a belt.

Decent
Slightly fussy to get the release back in but works well otherwise.

... so that you can have one set of keys easily available while the others are in use
Ever wanted a quick release keychain so that you can have one set of keys easily available while the others are in use? Look no further! I'll rate this on the two things I looked for when buying:1) Quick release - 5/5You can definitely release the two parts quickly and easily.2) Key holder - 5/5Holds my keys with no issues, haven't had any keys go missing.Would recommend to anyone looking for a quick release key holder.

Love these
This is good! The only reason why it is not a 5 is because the holes on both parts of the connectors only fit smaller rings. I have one of those flat, wide key rings that the connectors will not fit. However, for the convenience of these connectors, I switched to a thinner key ring and it works perfect!
