Childhood In An Out of The Way Place
I have often wondered what it would be like to be a child in an out of the way place today. Guess it was like my childhood in an out of the way place in the 1940's-50's. I just got this book a few hours ago. I can already tell my childhood and my mates childhoods and the childhood of the kids in this book are similar. If we could only go back and avoid the world of our adulthood.Tony Duvert is one of my heroes. After I have read the entire book and had time to think about it I will edit this review.Edit 1: Children Will Never Let You Into Their Culture.Edit 2: Someone will escape the banalities, the false science of the world we live in.Edit 3: "Atlantic Island" is a book of hope. With the right kind of smarts you can escape the repression of the nuclear family, war, starvation, poverty and poor hearth. You will find these smarts in this book on Amazon "The Lost Science of Money".Note: The picture I posted is of Tony Duvert in happier times.

Different but good
It starts out slow but the language and characters suck you in. Not your average novel, whether French or American.

An interminable grind!
This is one of those books that would be twice as good if it were half as long. Despite the puff pieces promoting this volume, it is in no way comparable to Lord of the Flies.
