Exactly what I wanted...
My 5 cup coffee maker bit the dust last week and I needed a replacement. I have wasted a lot of coffee over the last couple of years - making a whole pot and tossing out half. I decided I wanted a single cup brewer. I did not want to spend the money for a Keurig and cups etc...Well, I found this one, read all the reviews and decided to order it. The majority of the reviews have been 5 star - so I figured 1800+ 5 stars was enough evidence for me!The coffee maker is smaller than I expected. I compared it to other things - almost took a picture and then thought that would be too nerdy (and something my brother would do)! Just so you know, the size is somewhere between a large tervis and a nutribullet.I won't use the filter that comes with it. I have used similar filters in the past and they are not for me.I have cone filters left over from my little 5 cup maker, and with about a .5 inch trim they fit fine. I will buy the #1's when I run out of the #2's.I ran some cold water (chilled from a water dispenser) through the first time. Some people have said they have problems with the switch - mine is nice and tight and works the way it is supposed to. I used my favorite over sized coffee much to figure out how much water I would need (10 oz) and poured the water into the well. I hit the switch and it took about 4 minutes for the cup to fill. There was steam coming from the water as soon as it started pumping through and running into the cup. I have never had a coffee pot that makes coffee hot enough to actually produce steam, ever! So it is a nice treat to get really hot coffee. Out of curiosity I took the temp of the water and it was 175. Nice!I like it. I am keeping it and I am going to use it. I figure even if it works for 2 weeks - I am "even"! I expect it will last much longer and provide many delicious cups of hot coffee/tea!

Replacing my old one
Now I've had my original brew and go for about 5 years. It has worked PERFECTLY all that time. It still works perfectly. I lost the mug and was looking for a new one and they all seemed to cost 10 bucks - so Amazon had the whole new thing for 10 bucks and no shipping (prime) and I said - hey - might as well buy a whole new thing for the price of a mug. And I did- I've made about 5 cups of coffee with the new one - so far no problems. The coffee grounds problem I've never had - BUT - I never use the permanent filter. 1) according to research the paper filter removes some carcinagen that the permanent filters do not - so I use the paper. 2)I buy NUMBER 2 unbleached filters from Melita - buy 100 pack. Prhaps it is their size that prevents the grounds from flowing over, but I never have that problem. I love my brew n go - love it! Perhaps I'll have problems with my new one - perhaps B&D quit making it and that's the problem. I'll let you know in a few months. (at which time, if there's a problem I'll bring out my old one)p.s. I normally brew my coffee into a regular mug for drinking at home. And a HUGE regular mug will fit under the drippy thing.p.s. 2 I like my coffee strong and I never have a problem with getting it nice and strong with two scoops of coffee per mug. (but I do grind my coffee myself) That's all - hope it helps you make a decision.May 2 follow up - been using it for 5 months now. Still makes great coffee! Still have no problem with grounds in my coffee, and I started using 3 scoops, per Alton Brown. I did have a problem pouring water in the resovoir that I didn't have with my old one - but I just use a measuring cup now, and things are fine. I've read other people say it tastes like plastic - never had that happen or that the water is too cool - I make mine from the water in the fridge and it is still a piping hot cup of coffee - as long as you drink it right away. If it sits it cools down rapidly because it has no heat source, just as if you had poured it and let it sit. I got mine really cheap - but I'd have paid more for it. The end!

Great coffee maker. Horrible mug design
I ve purchased this coffee maker a few times. I ve used it over 100 times. The coffee maker works great. The auto off function is the reason I purchased this. No issues. The coffee grinds are a bit annoying to remove from the permanent filter yet coffee has turned out fine. My biggest issue is with the mug. The design of the handle is horrible. I ve spilt coffee so many times I ve tossed out the mug and am not sure if I will ever purchase this again. When ever I pick up the mug I naturally place my hand through the handle which is open. Many times it's caught on to my clothes which has made the coffee spill. This is a coffee mug I m surprised it was not designed better. People normally drink coffee when they are tired or need a bit of alertness ... That being said bring alert while drinking my first cup of coffee so I can grasp the handle or mug correctly is something I ve seldom am till after my first cup of coffee,. Normally by then I ve spilled it do to the awful design of this mug. Other wise this coffee maker works great, replace it with another mug or a taller coffee mug solution solved

Great Replacement for thr old B&D version
Nice "step" indicator in reservior for 8, 10, & 14 oz water. Found a juice glass that fits ifilter-basket allowing a paper filter to be formed around outside-bottom of glass and then inserted into filter . Good product. Even the lid for the mug has a flap that securely closes the sip- and vent- holes preventing leaks!
