Keeps lines straight
Really helped keep stern lines directly behind boat.

Wish I had thought of this
These things are an excellent tool to keep an additional center line out of other lines you are trolling with. I don't particularly like running lots of planer boards, so I run 2 mostly sometimes 4, and sometimes my downriggers, and 2 lines back off each corner of my 8.5' wide fishing boat. This stern planer allows me to get a another line (or 2) off the boat running back and keep them from interfering with my 2 that are running standard off the boat. You can run the line back the normal distance that you would have off the boat, clip this on....then run it back another 60-80 feet or so before the lure takes a dive.For me it reduced tangles and allowed me to get those lines out at similar depths. When reeling a fish in, you need to learn to efficiently remove the stern planer without letting your line slack up, but not hard with a buddy. Also if it does release and goes to the fish, you are dealing with that down there knocking on the lure but I'd say that is a rare occasion.Worthwhile tool to have in the arsenal.

Love these stern planers
I set this straight out the back with 500' of walleye copper and braid backer. This stern planer handles if effortlessly and always puts me on the fish. I also have a couple of the smaller models and they work well also.

Walleye trolling
If you troll for Lake Erie Walleye, or Spring Coho Salmon on Lake Michigan , you will want to get a set of these. They allow you to pull diving baits off of the back of your boat, but away from the boat for spooky fish.

Expensive Plastic Cone
To be fair,I have not had a chance to use this planer yet so cannot rate its performance.I bought it after watching the manufacturer’s You Tube videos...My first impressions are that this is an expensive cheap plastic cone with attachment clips that are second rate compared to say Offshore planer hardware...I hope my perceptions are proven to be wrong come spring.
