Review: KidCo Gates are the Best! - I've installed a number of gates for the last 20 years and KidCo has always been the gate we used. This is our first retractable gate but it also works perfectly. This time installed to keep our dogs out of certain parts of the house. It's hardware mounted so it takes a little more time to install but once I got it in I was impressed with how well it works. We have it extended almost to it's maximum 55" length for our entry hallway. It is easy to open and close and the dogs haven't tried to defeat it so far. Some caution is needed when unlatching with one hand as sometimes it can slip out of your hand and snap all the way to the wall. I like the gate a lot!
Review: Great option for semi-awkward areas - Easy to install and set up. Safe for top of stairs. Most often requires 2 hands to unlatch, but a kid definitely is not able to! Also can be used to block off kids and dogs but allow a cat to fit underneath, when raised up 2 inches from floor.

I've installed a number of gates for the last 20 years and KidCo has always been the gate we used. This is our first retractable gate but it also works perfectly. This time installed to keep our dogs out of certain parts of the house. It's hardware mounted so it takes a little more time to install but once I got it in I was impressed with how well it works. I like the product, but I wish the mechanism to open and close was easier. I was under the impression it was a magnet mechanism, its not, my fault should have looked closer at the description before purchasing. My older kids have trouble opening and closing it. The material is sagging or wrinkled when pulled taut to other side. All in all, It does the job of protection which is the most important aspect to us. Will continue to use.
