True Love at Silver Creek Ranch
Marine Adam Desantis returns home with physical and emotional scars from Iraq. Rancher's daughter Brooke Thalberg finds him much different, improved, from their school days. Adam's grandmother is pretending to be more feeble than she actually is to keep him home in Valentine Valley. The characters, dialogue and story line are believable. Small town life weaves color along with the romance of Adam and Brooke.I really enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more from this author.

Good read....
It is hard to rate a book that has so many things going on. Senior Widow ladies that do great civic work; young people helping even younger troubled youth; war hero soldier that is finding his place in the community; and let's not forget the romance in this book. It is a clean story with current topics. I needed just one more chapter to wrap up the story. There are probably other books on the way that will talk about Valentine Valley. I recommend this book.

Valentine Valley is a great series.
I am reading the Valentine Valley series and love it. There are awesome characters and very nice, fun storylines. I started the series because I saw a comparison to Robyn Carr on line. Robyn is one of my favorite authors and this author has a nice way of telling a story too. I would recommend.

Awesome Series!!!
This series has been one of the best I've read. You become a part of the small town and characters in it. Emma Cane has done a terrific job bringing all the characters in together so you feel like you know them personally. Keep them coming. There are still more characters to bring to life. Enjoy reading!!!

Enjoyed reading this book
I enjoyed most of this book but I have to agree with other comments about Brooke. She was to bossy & too much of an innocent person. She had no pass. It was a good book to read with all of the different story lines. Really liked how the women handled the men protesting the store.

Book falls flat
I understand why the people who gave this book 4 or 5 stars enjoyed it - it is hard to rate a book regarding soldiers low, however I have to be the first to take the leap! This book moves very slow and honestly alot of the dialogue and scenes between Adam and Brooke felt very forced. Even the first scene of the book where he goes in to rescue the horses from the fire feels like the author created the scene to force them into awkward interactions. For most of the book, Brooke was hung up on who Adam used to be in high school (which as Emma Cane described it, he was like EVERY other popular kid: arrogant, conceited, insecure, etc.). Not sure how this creates a "conflict" but it is a weak one at best. They didn't have many interactions in high school so why would she hold that against him 10+years later? Brooke needed to grow up......which leads me to my next point, Brooke is NOT likeable at all. I found her very bland and immature and just all of the place. She didn't know what she wanted and the way she handled the situation with Adam was annoying. She didn't do anything, in my opinion, to push Adam to tell her about his experiences overseas. She didn't even know how to handle it when he eventually did tell her. Their relationship seems very forced and the author did not do a good job of creating genuine interactions. It's hard for me to give such a poor review to this book when I loved the first one in the series but I'm just not seeing it.Also, so many sub-plots in the book were never resolved (Brooke's mothers health, Adam and his grandmother regarding his time in the Marines, what Adam was doing with his life career-wise, etc.). The first novel had much more resolve. I could barely keep up with some of the sub-plots (like Emily from book one's interaction with her sister Steph).Don't bother with this book it's not even good for light reading.
