Being from the Carolinas, I am a bit of a grit connoisseur (snob). These are everything I want. I have prepared them several ways and they always turn out perfect. The taste is amazing, nutty and hearty but subtle enough you can enhance it with butter and sauces. My favorite dish with these is pecan crusted trout.

Best grits around. I wish the price would come down but understandably they are priced well in comparison to small batch authentic South Carolina grits. Love them with pimento cheese.

First let's get the obvious out of the way. Much like if it's not from Kentucky it isn't really Bourbon, if they're not from South Carolina they aren't really grits. (I'm not now or have I ever been a resident of South Carolina.) Until my first fork full of Marsh Hen Mills grits, I would have told you there was no reason to eat anything except for the products from Palmetto Farms. These grits are equally amazing. They have more texture and are just as flavorful. I would say (definitely not an expert in grits) the Marsh Hen Mills are better simply prepared. Adding little or nothing to hide the flavor or texture. As simple as butter, salt and pepper. The Palmetto Farms are better in more complex recipes such as Shrimp and Grits. However, they both have the flavor to do either. So, my favorite grits are Palmetto Farms and also Marsh Hen Mill. Our relationship will be complicated, but I know we can work it out.

REAL grits. Slow cooking, no kidding, great tasting grits. Totally worth the time to do 'em right. THE BEST with a couple of sunny-side eggs.
