Cymatics: A Study of Wave Phenomena & Vibration

Hans Jenny spent half a lifetime bringing us the beautiful pictures and philosophical ideas that are present in Cymatics. Complementary to his 30 min video, this book shows the numerous experiments that Jenny performed as well as the conclusions that these studies led to.

I just purchased the book and was under the assumption that it was Volume 1 of 2. I had ordered Volume 2 from another vender and I have discovered that this copy is in fact Volumes 1 and 2. I verified the ISBN number listed and from the book - it is correct. This book "A Study of Wave Phenomena and Vibration" contains; Volume 1, 1967 - The structure and dynamics of waves and vibrations. Volume 2, 1974 - Wave phenomena, vibrational effects and harmonic oscillations with their structure, kinetics and dynamics.

Good read.

Excellent book to learn more from the world of Cymatics from one of the most prominent scientists in the field.

Totally Intriguing book if you like anything to do with sound and the power of sound for transformation. Makes a great coffee table book as well.

If you know enough about Cymatics to be buying a book on it then you'll probably know that the work of Hans Jenny is pretty much the authority on the field. Basically everything you need to know about it and essentially 90% of the new findings in the field of Cymatics is in this book. I did my dissertation and much of my third year university photography work on this topic and after all the research I did, the only other sources I found that offered anything else worth reading were 'Water Sound Images: The Creative Music of the Universe' By Alexander Lauterwasser (fitting name) and anything you can find by Ernst Chladni (which won't be much because he died a looooooooong time ago). But yes, this book is definitely the foremost thing worth having regarding Cymatics.

Interested in the patterns in singing bowls, and the fountain effects caused by the vibrations. This guy has methodically, done a pretty comprehensive job, not on bowls but on the effects of vibrations. Have started reading and looking at the pictures, very interesting.
