It was a little bit smaller than I expected, so I actually purchased something else to use in its place. I’m sure it would be fine just for kids playing.

This is a really nice cowboy pistol! Great price and a quality gun. All metal except for the grips, and the caps are very loud. Although it is a twelve-shot, just sever an eight-shot ring and use half of another one. Walmart carries the eight-shot rings and they are 2.88 for 216 shots (27 rings). It's a good size, a little large for a small 5 year old, but great for me (adult woman with medium sized hands). It's a break barrel, so easy to load. You can't go wrong with this gun! Gonher makes the best cap guns!!

My grandson is a cowboy. All the way and he needed something better than a plastic gun. So I got him this one. It is made of metal, so it’s heavy like a pistol should be, it is very sturdy, it has been dropped a few times and is still fine, we wears it from the moment he gets to my house until it’s time to go home (no, he doesn’t sleep in it!). The only drawback is the holster, it’s a cheap plastic deal that isn’t holding up as good as the gun. We have had to fix one of the brads that came loose about a month after we got it. To be honest, I am getting him a leather holster so that will no longer be a problem. He will look like a 100% cowboy then!! Overall, it’s worth the money if you need something realistic. We don’t shoot the caps, we use our imagination for all the shooting, so I can’t speak to that issue. I would recommend this product!
