Easy to use and sends a consistently strong and frequent radio signal to the inside unit
Thie screen on this thermometer unit is easy to read and use. Each probe has a display showing the current temp as well as the high and low temp settings for the alarm. I would have preferred that the low temp alarm be on the left and the high temp alarm on the right. That would be more intuitive than high on the left, low on the right.I have used this probe thermometer several times and found that I like using the alarms for the meat temperature but not for the smoker temperature. My smoker temperature varies wildly when it starts pushing more pellets into the burn pot. By setting a high and low temp alarm for the meat I am alerted when the meat is done cooking or if the smoker ran ot of pellets or turned off or something and the meat started cooling. I can still watch the smoker temp. I just don't use those alarms. All for probes will easily fit through one small hole in the side of my smoker. The probes are wider but the wires all fit through together. I use two probes to monitor the meat and two to monitor the smoker temp.I used to be constantly checking the meat when cooking but now I just check the screen on the unit in my house. I don't even have to go outside much except to flip the meat. This unit has made grilling and smoking meat much easier.

Perfect pulled pork!
I decided to purchase this thermometer after seeing excellent reviews on AmazingRibs.com, and I was not disappointed! I've done a 10lb pork shoulder and a whole chicken already, and they were just perfect! The meat probes seem to correlate extremely well with my handheld digital thermometer, so I was happy with that. My only issue was that the ambient probe didn't correlate at all with my dome thermometer. I know, I know... The ambient probe should be the more accurate of the two! My dome temp runs about 20-50 degrees lower than the digital probe read. However, when I was slow rolling at 250F digital for the pork shoulder, the meat absolutely failed to come out of its stall. When I let my Kamado Joe rise back up to 250F on the dome thermometer, the stall finally ended and my shoulder started to cook again. I think the final cook time was close to 20hrs! When I did the whole chicken, I used the dome thermometer as my baseline, which worked very well. I then used the meat probe to determine when the cook was done. Perfect!Overall, I highly recommend this device. Well priced, durable and very easy to use! My only suggestion would be to play around a bit with your digital probe-to-dome temps before you invite the family over for a BBQ just to make sure you know your cook zones.

Works good, love the remote wireless unit
I've enjoyed this thermometer for the past year. My old one died and it didn't have a remote unit, and I guess I didn't know what I was missing. I picked this up to replace my old one and it's so nice having the remote unit. No more going out to check on the grill or oven, or listening for the beep from another part of the house. I just bring the remote with me and keep an eye on it. I haven't wandered too far with it but it definitely works on another floor on the other end of the house, so that's all I need.My one gripe now is that one of the 4 probes failed. Curiously it failed almost exactly 1 year from my order date - go figure. The other 3 still work and I'll just use those for now and if another fails, I'll order some replacements. I haven't had the need to use more than a couple at a time so I can live without one or two if I have to.

Great thermometer and very accurate
Great product. My husband has been wanting this for quite some time. Bonus is that it came with two extra thermometers for this particular one. It’s easy to read and very accurate. I like that it has an extra reader that you can carry around to monitor temperature, especially for smoking or slow grilling.Only con is that it came in a thin plastic envelope with no padding, so the case it came in was broken in pieces. I was going to just order another and return this one but they were out of stock (and still are). I decided to keep it anyhow as it was intended for a Christmas gift.

it works
It works as advertised. And it worked more than once. I've had problems with remote thermometers in the past either the probes would quit working, or the unit would just die after a couple of uses. The Maverick XR-50 has exceeded my expectations. the multiple probes come in very handy when cooking multiple meats, or like last weekend I smoked a duck and had grill temp, breast temp, and thigh temp. It is easy to set up none of that set meat and taste just to get the temp that you wanted. Just straightforward setting the temp, and you can put the remote in your pocket and not lose your settings. It was designed by someone who actually makes Barbeque. In closing I will add that the Maverick XR-50 is the leave in thermometer I have always dreamed about. It com pleats my smoking rig A 22in Weber Kettle, Slow n Sear 2.0, and the Maverick XR-50. They go together like Ribs and Smoke.

This is the Probe you are looking for....
I seldom write reviews....it has to be an exceptional product or a piece of junk before I take time to advise others. This in an exceptional product. I grill and/or smoke meat several times per week and have used this product 15-20 times already. Whether I'm doing a long slow cook on a brisket or cooking medium rare beef tenderloins....this multi temp probe unit is the key. It is easy to use and has remained flawless for accurate read-out. If I plug in all 4 of the probes they will read within 1 degree of each other (other units I've owned were all over the place and lacked accuracy). This comes in very handy when grilling steaks for company that requires doing some at "medium rare" and some at "medium". The only thing I am not able to comment on, is the long term durability. It appears to be very well made, but I have only used it for a few months so far. CK
