But this device will absolutely help. It’s so simple and inexpensive too! Works best on windows that slide open HORIZONTALLY. You peel and stick a strip of supplied Velcro into your window track. Simply set the plastic Belcro backed wedge in place. Is provides resistance that prevents sliding the window open. And becuase it’s a strip of Velcro, you can set it to where your window is partially open for ventilation but still has a measure of security.For the MOST security minded window, be sure your are using whatever built in window latch that came with your window, then use this as a supplementary security device. You could also double down with a window bar or my favorite...a little window latch with a butterfly screw thar simply makes it harder to slide the window open.Most of my windows are secured with this wedge device plus the window frame clamps with butterfly screws that simply hand tighten into place. No drilling, no hammering. No skill needed whatsoever to make your home safer! You can even use these while traveling at your hotel or Airbnb! Amazing. I spent a lot of time reading reviews of other similar products before I decided to try these.First of all, I realize no product is truly burglar proof/safe.But I love those. We live in a ranch home and our HVAC is on the way out. I actually have portable stand up A/C unit to help cool our front room and it needs to vent out the window.I applied these to the window and they work great. You cannot pull the top window down and you cannot push the bottom window up.If a dedicated burglar wanted in, it would take him long enough for us to notice and call 911. In the end, a burglar would probably just bust a window after messing with this thing.We have our Nest camera positioned to also watch this area in case a possible intruder approaches the windows or tampers with it.But it will not be easy. I had my boyfriend attempt to yank the window open or pull down the top window. He could NOT do it within a few minutes.I feel safer now leaving the window cracked to vent the portable A/C with these in and my Nest camera watching while I am at work or asleep.I used two wedges in that window on either side. We have double hung, triple paned windows. These were easy to apply. I love being able to reposition the wedge to different height.such a simple product that works great.We wanted something a bit more temporary and didn't want to put screws into the new window casements and crack them.Also great because once our HVAC is replaced then I still use these on pretty days when I want to leave the windows cracked.I am definitely going to order more for our other windows too.

This is a great product, especially when you are not ready for new windows with stoppers.- The Window Wedge is advertised to use on the top window. When I did that using the velcro supplied, my bottom window went right over the Window Wedge as if there was nothing there. I moved the Window Wedge to the inside track of the window, AND used 2 piece 9lb picture hanging command strips, along with the provided velcro strip. That provided the additional thickness to allow the Window Wedge to protrude enough to stop the window from raising higher than I wanted. Win! Win! Thank you.

I couldn't figure out how this would work, but needed a way to have my bedroom window open without being vulnerable to being opened further. It's Simple, excellent and effective.

So I really like this product. I have an autistic son and we had new windows out on upstairs and forgot to ask about child locks. So I had to figure something else out. This are good for right now. Not sure how that will be when he figures out he can remove them. The one complaint I have is that once you place the strip that’s it no second chance. You have the ability to move the wedge higher or lower on the strip. I placed the strip to low and now I don’t have the opening I would like to have. Not sure where to get extra strips. I need to purchase more but I would like to have back up strips Incase something like this was to happen again.

I have been using these for 2yrs now and love them. They were just what I was looking for to help get some ventilation in our kids’ rooms but also not allow the windows to fully open. Since their rooms are on the 2nd floor, these definitely give me peace of mind. Easy to install/adjust. Highly recommend them.
