So I've got small hands and I got the small just because I got a magnet fishing kit and wanted to keep my kit as light as possible. So let me tell you, I'm 30 something, 5'4" and a guy, so I've got small hands and this small size of grapple is as small as my hand from wrist to tip of my middle finger. This grapple for me is strictly to retrieve my rope if it snaps and im able to reach with spare grapple and rope or for light action to maybe medium light grapple fishing. The weight of small is just barely under 90lbs rated for lifting power. For me that is okay because with rope there is always stretch which gives you some forgiveness when manhandling stuff out of water. For me if I got a large and I needed to haul something that large out of water then dam I need a forklift not a grapple. So for me getting a magnet rated for 1000lbs and then this small it should allow me to get most things im looking for atleast to a bank or shore line close enough that I can just wade in and pull it by hand rest of way. Plus if an arm bends out just grab a vise grip or put on ground and bend the arm back into place. But hey if I dont want it for this purpose I'll just repurpose it for hoisting groceries up to my 3rd floor balcony.

I bought the large and it is still quite small. About the size of a big grapefruit. The core shaft, while Stainless started to rust the first day.

I haven't used this for climbing or anything but it's great for removing dead limbs and debris.The heaviest use was pulling out some heavy horse panels buried in mud from the pond. I was able to pull them up from the boat and the them out with the pickup truck.I've also pulled out large chunks of pond weeds and pulled broken branches it out of trees with it.I highly recommend this for cleanup projects it made things 100x easier.

Built well and works as I believed it would. Be sure you know what size you need. This was a bit smaller than I thought but works for what I needed it for.

I selected the large size. When it arrived I was surprised how seemingly small it was - but after using it a few times it appears to be a good quality tool that is quite strong and can do the job.

I use this for a rescue drone I built. It works great for retrieving other drones or RC planes from the roof of a building.

I needed something to clean out a pond drain pipe that was out of reach. I put this mini- grappling hook on a telescoping pole to lift debris away fro the pipe. It works like a charm.

had a lot of broken limbs hang in the trees after storm. These hooks were very handy at snagging the branches. Could use just a little more weight but the size is good.
